Putting stylus on backwards???

What is the point/benefit of this,
I know for a fact that Tiesto's TT's are always set up this way.

Backwards? Like how. may I ask?
Dj Thy
Either way he's meaning the weight or a trick I use sometimes.

Putting the weight backwards increases the weight you can put on your stylus. I think you can gan 3 or 4g by placing the weight reversed.

The trick I mentionned is one you can use for showmanship.
You screw headshell upside down in the tonearm, and put the weight pretty much back (so it pushes the arm up instead of down).
Now the tricky part. You take a cup or wathever (isomo can be good also) and put it on the platter. Then you put your vinyl on the cup, as centered as possible (it's easier when using isomo with a straw or pencil to keep the record centered.
Now you release the arm, and the weight will force the needle to touch the vinyl from beneath.
When you press play, the tune will play in reverse.
Pretty useless trick, but excellent to impress the crowd :D

I call this trick the reversed cup twister hehe
JohnSmith
Yeah, DJ swamp does that one. what the heck is isomo?
TranceGeek
you can also use the plastic piece from a pen and put it on the spindle and place the record on it, instead of a cup
:haha:

what is an isomo ???
Dj Thy
Erm, I knew you guys would ask that. The reason I wrote that is because I didn't remember the english word anymore. I think I remember now. Isomo is the name we give to styrofoam back here (and don't tell me you don't know what styrofoam is).

Dj Thy
I guess you guys didn't have chemistry then (now I remember the real compound name is polystyrene) :D

Just kidding.

It's that white isolation foam they put around materials to protect them during transport.
P`zazz
how would you impress a crowd with this when most people won'teven notice :conf:

DJ_Shockwav

now i'm curious as to what he means...

i've heard of that dj swamp trick, and it's sounds pretty cool IMO
