Place was rammed by 12 with a huge lineup outside. Never seen or heard of Mike Gleeson before, but he played an outstanding (and likely too hard) opening set. Very impressed! Would really like to see this guy play a later slot somewhere and some point. Pretty sure I've never listened to a Derrick Carter set before so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was almost 5 hours of really fresh sounding music after hearing toronto tech-house & techno week in, week out. I wasn't much into his first hour but I was digging most of the rest. Too many vocals for a guy who doesn't like vocals much at all but I found myself enjoying them more than I normally would. Lots of groovy basslines were impossible not to dance to (see: part 3/5). Place was still busy when I left at 4:40AM. Would definitely check him out again.

I was only there for a couple of hours, but I liked the stuff Derrick was playing towards the end of his set. But did anyone notice the technical difficulties he was having? Lots of trainwrecks, which is weird, because this guy is usually a wizard technically.

they just installed the new cdj2000s, and i noticed that when the usb stick was being used - at least for one of them - there was a weird kinda echoey lag effect going on. it sounded almost like hearing a buffer under-run or something you might hear in a computer that's lagging.

after that, i switched to straight cds on that one cdj, and it seemed ok - i noticed derrick was using more cds too, later on.

well to speak to the music, there were some really heady places in derrick's set where i was just thinking to myself, 'what the hell is going on?', in a good way. just kinda groove lock mode, but never boring, and always energetic. interesting and a little unusual for him, but just shows how versatile he is.

i agree though, a couple uneven spots thur, but i had some of those moments too.
