So did anyone go or planning on going to Tiesto shows in Boston, I went last night? I can't say it was a bad show, but it was like buying a ticket to Metallica and ended up watching Faust in 5 acts. The opera was good, but you're still feeling screwed because that's not what you were hopping to see. For two hours he didn't play a single of his anthems with exception of mutilated Lethal Industry. Then close to the middle of the show he "dropped" Punk for all 15 seconds of it. Highlight of the night was Tiësto & Mark Knight - Beautiful World and that probably says a lot. I also haven't seen this many drunk/high people in the crowd before at this establishment. People were passing out. This show made Kaleidoscope performance in NYC look like Elements of Life. But I guess that's what he plays now and crowd seems to be liking it. It just sucks to see one of the 3 performers who got me hooked on EDM moves farther and farther from trance and progressive.
Looking forward to A&B in less than 2 weeks and Armin with Emery later on. |

ya, that is precisely the reason I won't go see Tiesto. Not too mention the redic high ticket prices. Overall, I'm not feeling his sound much.

yes unfortunately Tiesto's live shows have gone completely down the drain. His last real amazing show was back in October, I saw him twice in new york back in february and he was alright, then saw him at Ultra and he was horrible to the point of me wanting to walk out but couldn't bring myself to actually walkout on the DJ who awakened me to this whole world.
At Ultra he did not play one classic. I had accepted the fact that at a Tiesto show the only guaranteed anthems were Adagio, the same damn bart harsteer remix of Love Comes Again, and In the Dark. But at ultra we got nothing, really one of the saddest days of my trance life.
Also cannot believe he only played 2 hours, in ny i saw 3 and 4 hour sets. It just gets worse for him as time goes on. He redeemed himself for about an hour with that new song Young Lions but at this point forget about ever seeing him live again. I've seen him live more than any other dj too. Such a shame
Just have to wait for the day Tiesto plays a classics show with just his pre 08 stuff, kinda like Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt concert |

welcome to boston. i have never met more than 10 people at royale in one night that knew who the dj was, let alone the genre he was playing. extrapolate that to the entire club and that's at most 20-30% of the people who are there for more than drinks and BU girls.
considering the fact tiesto tickets (multiple days) sold out within hours for those ridiculous prices, i'm pretty sure the tiesto/guetta/etc US top 40 experiment is working. it doesn't even matter if they play fart sounds.

i def lost alot of respect for him, but at the same time it works both ways
gotta blame the idiots for supporting him and pay these stupid prices to see him play a dog set for 2 hours then bounce
i bet anything he could record the sound of a monkey farting,put a kick drum and a few effects over it, slap his name on it and it would sell
some people out there are just clueless when it comes to haveing an ear for music |
