Looks pretty sweet for an entry level card.

That looks nice. Speaking of nice, compact interfaces coming out of Musikmesse, the new RME/Alva NanoFace looks like another winner:

Extremely interesting!!

6 ins / 6 outs (4 & 4 analogue), with the ability to have two moniot outs with separate monitor controls from one knob, if I read it right.

I don't quite get the RME connection yet (if they provided the chips or that RME made this but don't want it to be under their banner for commercial reasons).

If this little thing sounds as good as the FF range from RME and they've priced it below $600 it will destroy the prosumer market.

Back on topic, I think the KA6 looks interesting but I have to say, I'm a little fretful of it judging by the numerous malfunctioning units from their other models.

maybe i can finaly replace my audiofire 4. im happy with its sound but it lacks volume control (both analog and digital) and i dont like firewire. im also considering apogee duet but since its not balanced im not sure i dare to. i had hum problems until i switched to balanced.

Yep, at least as slang within the audio industry. I know it way sound funny but it's actually quite accurate if you think about it.

For instance with soundcards, you have the consumer ones (like soundblaster or C media or on board audio) and then you have professional (and by that I mean RME, apogee, Prism, Metric Halo, Lavry, Lynx, digidesign etc).

But then there's a middle ground - it's better than consumer but it's not quite fully professional studio grade, like Echo, Motu, Presonus etc.

Don't get me wrong there's a fair bit of crossover, like the lower end RME or Apogee stuff but I think Prosumer describes it well.

prosumer is probably the description of most of us :)

It's like "webinar" and "automagically"

That Nanoface looks like exactly what I want, interested to see how much it's going to cost.
