Trance DJ's need time to do the Jesus pose in between tracks. That's probably why there's not that much actual mixing aside from beat matching.

This coming from the guy who has a crush on Sander van Doorn.

Listen to the Future Sound of London's 1993 essential mix

Lol I hope even you can realize how pathetic that was.

Haha bringing up a thread I made 10 months ago is not, right? OMG I like Sander van Doorn's music, that must mean I have a crush on him!!! I'm occasionally fairly easy to provoke with stupidity, but this is just such a pitiful attempt, I'm not even gonna go there :stongue: I see the unbelievably retarded things you consistently say, but you're honestly not worth my time, and I really don't care enough to dig up threads from ing 10 months ago to try and rile you up. Haha wow, a sad life you must live.

Get ed, mate ;)

Dude, it's not my fault you want to gargle SvD's balls. Don't get all pissy just because I call you on it.

Yes I know most of you will flame me for this, but in all my years of listening to EDM I have yet to listen to a mix/liveset that doesn't sound like a collection of random tracks thrown together. This includes trance, house, tech-house, compilation albums, podcasts, internet shows, etc.

The only noticeable element to me between transitions is tempo and the obvious intro and outros to a set, but is there supposed to be anything more? EDM tracks as a whole sound so different than each other that I'm having a difficult time believing that they're lined up in a set for a specific reason outside of tempo. Yet I keep hearing stories that some of these sets create intentional soundscapes...

Like right now I'm listening to ISOS 2 and it sounds, to me, just like a bunch of tracks thrown together on a disc.

Yes I don't get it...can anyone give me their $2.49 on this issue and help me out?

Have you ever taken a drug before?

You can listen to Joris Voorn's Balance 014 mix on his website: http://www.jorisvoorn.com/

Its the first thing that pops up when you go into the website. Pick either Mizuiro or Midori. My fav is the Mizuiro mix.

If 100 tracks mixed within 2 CD still sounds like a transition of track a to track b, I guess nobody can help you.

Maybe if you went to a club and checked out some DJs instead of staying home cuz clubs are fire hazards, you'd get it.

All joking about Tiesto and who really does his compilations aside, listening to ISOS 1-5 in headphones on a long flight while you stare out the window is pretty much the definition of a "trance mix". It puts you into the zone and you don't even realize the songs are changing.

I know there are other compilations that do the same (Digweed GU: LA, for one), I was just using those as examples.

In other words, put on some headphones, relax, and stare at the ceiling while you listen. If you can't enjoy the mixes as a whole at that point, instead of mentally dividing them into tracks, then I can't help ya.
