The Glade - is back !

Just over 9 weeks to go until the summer begins with a glorious bang. The Glade Festival, as you really should know by now, is returning to its wonderful roots back in the rural English countryside…

The Phoenix is landing in Bedfordshire – centrally located so it’s easy to get to from most of the country.
NEW STUFF

There are whole load of new things happening this year.

BETA – Brought to you by Bristol’s Motion based Team Love and London’s Mixcloud / Man Make Music. A brand new party tent showcasing forward thinking producers of underground dance music from right across the spectrum. House to hip-hop, boogie to broken beat, disco to dubstep, drum-n-bass to future garage…

And the NANO SYSTEMS… Little happenings…

ETA – The killer London party outfit come to the Glade with their techno funk vibes…

THE FUSE – A new psy trance stage. Hosted by Liquid, Illuminaughty, Planet Shroom, Wildthings, Planet Zogg and Toadstool. Representing the UK’s local party scene in the north, west and south east.

GOURANGA - One of the most popular underground parties in London. A party atmosphere that takes inspiration from the Detroit of the early 90s where the music policy is always underground. Always Techno.

THE BASSMENT – A tent for the Bass driven tunes… Drum-n-Bass, Dubstep, Basslines, Breaks and all the rest. Sizzle in the Bassment… Hosted by Beats & Bobs, Rinseout and more…

DANCE-OFF SALOON - Expect moonshine drinking, piano playing, trash talking and impromptu bar brawls, complete with theatrical bottles to smash over anyone who looks at you funny… Over the weekend let your hair down with high-spirited line dances, score settling limb slinging, and the occasional gunfight. Cowboys & girls can show off their lasso skills, brave the bucking bronco and defend their good names with pistols at dawn…

LZRDM - (pronounced `Laser Dome`) it contains 40 individually controlled 3-colour laser modules. Their position and colour is individually computer-controlled – creating an intense and entrancing effect on you all once the phase transition is underway! The `laser dance` is also known to cause endogenous hyper-emotional ebullition from participants – a side effect that has not yet been fully researched! Ooooooooooh…

THE TIME MACHINE – Play video games, trigger drum machines with your feet and manipulate projected visuals as you dance to DJs. Flying forwards and backwards through time has never been more fun…

And there’s more to find when you come… Games, Roller Discos, Tenpin Bowling, Zorbing and more.

THE SANCTUARY - Healing in the Glade…. come to rebalance, recharge and rejuvenate. Yoga, Massage, Reiki… Therapies that will align you. The Sanctuary. Well Being.

New location - 3rd time lucky! Smile

Glade Festival, which takes place next month from Friday 10th until Sunday 12th June has revealed it will now be held at Houghton Hall, King's Lynn, in Norfolk.

Last week the trustees of Mansion House, in Biggleswade, where the event was due to happen this year, decided they did not want the event to take place on their site, despite contracts being signed off. Fortunately for organisers Lord Cholmondeley who owns the estate at Houghton Hall and the surrounding estate has stepped in to host the Glade and this is where the event will now take place in 2011 and organisers say it will be based there for the foreseeable future.

Glade organiser Ans had this to say about the situation, "Last week I got back to work having taken some time off to get married the weekend before, to find that the proverbial had hit the fan. We lost our site last week.

The trustees at the Mansion House decided that they didn't want the event after all, despite contracts signed and deposits paid. The new Glade team decided not to tell me so that it wouldn't ruin my big day and what they have done, amazingly, is manage to miraculously find another venue.

The new site, whilst being a bit further away from London, is by far superior. It is set in beautiful, privately owned 5,000 acre Estate which set in beautiful parkland laid out in the 1720's. It is also on sand, meaning excellent drainage, so we won't be having a repeat of the floods of 2009, regardless of the weather."

Lord Cholmondeley, the Land Owner added, "We are delighted to be hosting The Glade Festival at Houghton Hall this summer. This is a new event for Houghton but something that we think will work well in the beautiful and historic Park. We welcome the new management team, who come highly recommended, we know are renowned in the industry and have an outstanding portfolio of events. We are excited to see what they do with The Glade, and look forward to working with them."

Houghton Hall is situated just outside King’s Lynn where the nearest station is. There will be shuttle busses running between the site and the Hall.

The line-up includes headliners Trentemoller, Drumcode Records, & Global Communication, also confirmed are Andrew Weatherall, Photek, Dreadzone, Krafty Kuts, Hybrid, Dirtyphonics, Skrillex, Engine-Earz Experiment, Dub FX & Flower Fairy, Dub Pistols, Dirty Vegas, Ben & Lex, Ajja, Allaby, Atmos, Atomic Drop, Broken Toy, Dickster, FORM, Headroom, Logica, M-Theory, Man With No Name, Prometheus (live), Quantize, Sonic Species, The Commercial Hippies, and Tristan, Edoardo, DJ Emok, Hamish, Liquid Ross, Lucas, Regan, Shane Gobi, Richard Devine, Eprom, mat, Eskmo, Young Montana?, Broken Note, Loops Haunt, Koreless, Anxst, Baconhead, Beckett & Barker, The Squire Of Gothos, Threnody, Silverman, Revolva (Buf b2b Ghettozoid), Bashout Allstars, Spongebob Squarewave, Warlock, Gaudi, International Observer, Echaskech, Slackbaba, Sisyphe, Mbuki Mvuki, Dick Trevor, Ans, George Barker, Tripswitch, Alok, Aliji, Naked Nick, Moon, Nova, DJ Ekanta, Justin Chaos and Lewah.. For the line-up details as available please click here

Glade Festival originated as an underground dance stage at Glastonbury, before becoming an independent event in its own right in 2004. After a year out in 2010 due to high legal and security costs the festival will make just 5,000 tickets available for Glade 2011. Organisers are taking it back to its roots in terms of vibe with smaller numbers making it a much more intimate event.

Tickets are priced at £135. A campervan pass is priced at £50.
