So I've was using vinyl for years before the whole progression onto cdj's, now looking to go digital and hook up my set-up to my laptop.

Wondering what programs are best for mixing with my current set-up? (virtual dj, tracktor etc)
Which soundcards, midicontrollers do I need to connect to laptop.

My set-up is:
Pioneer DJM 600
2 x Pioneer CDJ 800's
Behringer UCA202 soundcard
Laptop

I am a complete noob when it comes this so help much appreciated

Thanks

I've been using Serato with turntables for the past few months and it is VERY accurate. I tried turntables with traktor at a friends house and didn't really like it at all.. For turntable use i'd say serato! (im not sure if maybe it's becuase i'm used to it already or what) .

you can download the program for free off their website BUT you can't dj with it unless you buy the sound card (which will cost you about 400-600 bucks depending on the type), you need the soundcard pretty much.

I actually find myself in an opposite situation as you haha, i'm trying to get off serato and just play without a laptop.

I guess it all comes down to personal choice though.

Haha you can't beat some old school vinyl. Those where the days.

If I was going back to the vinyl, i'd definately go Serato, heard good thing about its use but sticking with the cdj's for now. Read up on timecode cds, do the same thing as the serato vinyl apparently but with cds so quite interested in that.

600 bucks for a soundcard would be a good bit over my budget at the moment. Looking at a Maya 44 soundcard now after reading some reviews, not that expensive and does exactly what I need it to do.

As for software VirtualDJ meant to be quite good.

I use Virtual DJ, and I like it quite a bit. Great waveform display at the top, and I love the layout. I use a Hercules RMX controller with it, which works very well, but I'm sure you can hook your CDJs and mixer with timecode CDs into it with no problem.

It's definitely more limited for samples and things than Traktor, though. Traktor is quickly becoming the "industry standard" as far as laptop software is concerned, but it's ultimately up to personal preference. Traktor, Serato, and Virtual DJ all have demos so I'd try them out and decide which one you like best.
