yeah, actually it is. The classroom is the teacher's domain, they set the atmosphere and it has to accomodate every single child and their abnormalities. It is not uncommon at all to have at least a third of the students coming into most classrooms with severe emotional baggage. In my first grade classroom last semester over half of the students had a father in jail and those kids simply did not know how to deal with anger, how could they? They have no example at home which teaches them positive anger management. It is the responsibility of the teacher to make the child feel safe and any instance where one child threatens another is the teachers fault. There are a lot of great methods to prevent this sort of behavior, and when every single method seems to fail, you have to realize that you are dealing with an 8 year old not a hardened criminal so figure out what needs to be changed so that the classroom is a safe environment which encourages positive growth. Kids can be ing maniacs at times but they are in essence very malleable and they feed off of the environment that they are in. |

There is probably no one who doubts that the officer could body-slam him and break all his ribs in pieces. It was probably just not the intention. The goal probably was to make sure that there wasn't anyone who went on to suffer any particular harm. Pepper Spray> broken bones in that context. |

lad next door to my grandparents is just like this. he used to skip school, he stole from all of the old people in the village as a 9-14 year old, people identified him, they wouldn't prosecute him. Parents supported him, he ended up as a smackhead who tried to kill a police officer in his car, arrested for att. murder, got 18 months for gbh, was out in 12 & his parents supported him throughout including saying that said police officer jumped into his car so he didn't hit them. Need putting to sleep, the lot of them. |

Define just fine. Not to make light but I wonder, when people make assertions like this, about their perception of "normal", "well-adjusted", and "just fine" as it relates to their perception of self. My own mother was beaten with a razor strap, as a child, and went onto become a very successful lawyer. I can assure you, however, she was anything but "just fine." |
