Rave at Bay to Breakers

I'm going to the Bay to Breakers in May. In the past, usually around noon, a rave breaks out under the bridge in Golden Gate Park (where JFK and Crossover Drive intersect). Anyone planning to go there this year?

Heard they are cracking down on stuff this year but really want to go to this.
Anyone know rumours about it this year? |

It was RIDICULOUS last year, so huge that they couldn't have stopped the party if they wanted to. Still, with all the crackdown rumors there might be a small enough turnout for enforcement to be manageable.
I'll probably just mosey over with some friends and backpack full of beers anyway, unless I know definitively that nothing "fun" will be happening. |

I don't know if I would really consider this a "rave" lol...
The crew that is in the video built a hand pulled cart w. a sound system called the Port•a•Party for bay 2 breakers and all are 35+ years old... Most of the dj's are from burning man camps (The Deep End, Distrikt, Space Cowboys etc) and the crowd that follows them have taken over that one spot under the bridge for years.
Rumor has it that B2B is 100% dry this year so it will interesting to see how many people will attend or if this party under the bridge will ever happen again.... So far I have not heard anything from this crew so they could very well be done w/ it. I'll post an update if I hear anything. |

There is a ban on alcohol, and they will probably have some success in restricting its use, but I think a lot of people will find ways to conceal it (for example, putting vodka in an orange juice container, etc.) and they can't possibly check every bag and container. So, explicit drinking is out, but concealing it shouldn't be hard to do.
Moreover, the no-drinking policy might not be enforced in the park at all. They want to reduce the drinking in order to protect people's property (especially in the panhandle area), but there is no private property in the park and so I would expect a smaller police presence.
The bigger problem is the ban on floats and wheeled objects. I don't know how the music is going to be brought in without such things? But maybe there is a way. |

Didn't they try to ban it last year? And then had to unban it?
Or was that the year before?

Does anyone know how i can go about DJing bay to breakers (not on a float)....
Can i just set up with a generator in Golden Gate Park and a tent and start spinning? |

They have been trying to discourage the drinking for a few years now, but haven't been overly successful. This year they plan to step up the enforcement, or so they claim, but they can only do so much.
But I believe the ban on the floats is something new, and should be easier to enforce. Without the floats or wheeled objects, I don't know how the music/sound system will be brought in to the Crossover Drive underpass. But maybe there is a way..... |

Pretty sure in 2009 they did ban floats, but because of the outrage from people they unbanned them.
