I've dabbled a bit lately with PS as I needed some logos done.

Here's an easy one :-

Then another one that's like an 80s album cover :-

And another that's not quite right :-

Awesome! Sometimes, simplicity is best. ;)
Final Call
I tend to go for the more simplistic look for my tracks.

@Final Call - Do you do your own photography? Nice stuff. :) I like the minimalist approach as well.

Well, I hate to toot my own horn, but I'm going to go right ahead and toot it, I certainly do do this and I like to think I'm decent at it :) I do like a more minimalist approach to my stuff, but I know that with album art and such a certain degree of cheese is necessary for it to be memorable. My favourite out of the bunch is probably between Lifeline and Insecurity.

Insecurity art

Seventeen Art

These are tracks I decided not to use but I liked the art:

Foreign Objects

Lifeline

I designed the eye that's in all of them too.

And that's the logo I did for Raphie. I wanted to make it classy, and have an icon that can represent his service by itself without needing the entire banner. I'm a fan of minimalism though. I hate over-the-top cheesy stuff.

Like this:

Which I made as a joke :P

Damn, Final Call and Seandroid - nice work!

Toot away, dude. That's exactly what I'm looking for. It's good to know who the experts are around here. I really like the consistency in your banners - the use of the trademark eye is perfect for creating your own brand recognition, so to speak.

BTW I really like the Lifeline banner.

I haven't created any images in a while, but when I do I use Paint Shop Pro 8. Paint Shop Pro is way more user friendly than Photo Shop. Here's a few images I made.

Yeah they are simple, and the yellow was an odd choice for the ZL productions. Shreds of Black Cloud is my black metal project. That was a simple one to do, I found a cloud and sky photo with google images, then used the fonts I loaded into PSP. I use PSP so little, I forget how to do anything with it. Takes me 30 minutes just to relearn how to use it. I would not dare try to create album art. I always have concepts, a picture in my head, but I can only draw stick figures. Beyond simple fonts and colors, I'm no good at all. I don't have an artist's eye. I don't even trust myself enough to slap text on some deviantart.com stuff.

I noticed that some well known labels don't use artists anymore. They use the label logo and add your artist name and title. It's up to you to make your own cover art. I think cover art is very important, it helps convey a concept, and makes a release unique and stand out. Pretty much just marketing 101, images, words.

That's a good point and something that I always labor over when making these banners. The fonts that I used for Aliciya and my name are our "official" trademark fonts (i.e., the ones that we use for our websites, logos, etc.). So, I wanted to stay consistent with that and have a font for the song title that set it apart.

oh gotcha, yeah i thought about that for a sec.
