ok originally i was just gonna make a thread saying how much barraka -- song to the siren (Jean Philips Dirty South Remix) owns... and how it so got me back into this track... ive been listening to it for a while now from the tiesto mix live at impulz :) i even bought the vinyl but i must say even if i pitch it right up! (+8) the vocals dont sound as piercing as tiestos at impulz... im not sure what it is but that just owns me so hard i love it it has SO much emotion!...
anyway this is song has been around for ages hasn't it? seems to be, ive heard reworks and remixes of it everywhere i remember ages ago i heard it on like a judge jules cd! always wanted to find out its name (i had it mislabled) and i finally did and wore it out :P then i discovered some 'fable' remix :D and was like! yes its back! :D but then i wore that out too and got a bit sick of the whole song :/ and tiesto's 'new' remixes of it and stuff didnt really inspire much... but this one (jean philips) omg i love it it just has so much emotion! the vocals do it for me again!... anyway i just wanted to find out some info on the original track whats the deal with it ?
is the original This Mortal Coil - Tim Buckley or something ? because thats the mp3s i see around... was this a classical song way back :P or a hit way back when?...
pretty cool how all electronic
artists have redone it... |

I love Song To The Siren! It's such a beautiful song! Full of emotion. It's brilliant stuff.
I haven't heard the Jean Philips Dirty South Remix. I'll go download it now. It sounds great!
I have no idea what the original is called, or who it is by. All I know is that the original is in one of my favourite movies, and I like it. :) |

The original was written by Tim Buckley... The famous version is by rock band This Mortal Coil.
Since then it has recieved countless covers especially Trance since it's so perfectly made for Trance...
My personal fav being (Surprise surprise) Ratty's "Sunrise [Here I Am]" |

| The Jean Philips Dirty South Remix is very uplifting and is really amazing. This is one of those rare tracks that really really gets in contact deeply with my feelings and can instantly put a smile on my face, For the people who havent heard this remix and are fans of uplifting trance stuff, get it. |

| As I said there are many tracks in Trance that cover or sample Song to the Siren by Tim Buckley, Lost Witness - Did I Dream (Song to the Siren) being one of those... |

Does anyone here have the lyrics for this song? I can only understand fragments of them, the song is absolutely beautiful.
I love it since Tiesto@Impulz 2002 as well.. I like how he mixes into it, you hear both tracks for about 4 or 5 minutes, they both run parallel. Absolutely astounding. |

good on ya dude! like i said i bought the vinyl i love it too much ! the filterheadz remix is on the other side he also has a dub (get that too!) but there both mad i think they lyrics make that song, the dub is on the second vinyl with a max graham remix i believe but i think the lyrics are what make that track so its good to have it!
and in regard to the lyrics i sure can tell you what they are :D i remember looking them up ages ago :) they rock!... like i just said before they are what make the track for me :) you really feel em...
| quote: | On the floating, shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
til your singing eyes and fingers
drew me loving into your eyes.
And you sang "Sail to me, sail to me;
Let me enfold you."
Here I am, here I am waiting to hold you.
Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you here when I was full sail?
Now my foolish boat is leaning, broken lovelorn on your rocks.
For you sang, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow."
Oh my heart, oh my heart shies from the sorrow.
I'm as puzzled as a newborn child.
I'm as riddled as the tide.
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Or shall I lie with death my bride?
Hear me sing: "Swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you."
"Here I am. Here I am, waiting to hold you."
