you have a ty computer is my guess so turn up the buffer on the program. go into f10 go to the audio tab and increase the buffer.

You can change buffer to greater than 200 ms, but sometimes if you want real time effects, they are produced with greater latency. I take out effects sometimes, especially Delay and Reverb, which eat up CPU. Also, instead of having the sampling rate at 44100 Hz, lower it to 22500 Hz when you're working. That decreases the quality while you are working on the song, but you can always export the song at 44100 Hz when you're finished. The sample rate can be found in Audio Settings under Options.

Which soundcard do you have? Maybe you can dl some ASIO or 3rd party drivers for your soundcard to solve the prob.

I used to have the smae problem when I would have a compressor and/or reeverb on just about every channel...I started to having some of the reeverb on send to ease the pain of my cpu...This was on my athlon 1.33 and my p4 1.8...Make sure you have plenty of ram @ least 512. Another thing could be like orgin x said the drivers...
