I personally find Steven Merchant funnier than Gervais and Pilkington.
Gervais used to be decent but he's quickly turning into a bit of a twat. Still funny, but he's loosing sight of his humble beginnings, which were part of the appeal for me.

you need to listen to the old radio shows of theirs, on xfm...theyre all over youtube. he may sound more put together in the podcasts, and his theories may make their way to the forefront with a greater regularity, but on the radio show you can hear a distinct level of unprofessionalism, of aloofness that isn't welcomed (half the time) by ricky. great dynamic, the show would be, if it weren't for the three of them, a massive shambles with loads of dead air, but they pull it off!
