sothis, you seem caught up trying to get everyone to conform to your point of view. IMHO the forum is a place to share ideas and feelings, not a place to convert others to your beliefs.
This may sound gay, but ocassionally I like to bestow some unexpected kindness on a stranger or a friend (like buying them a drink). It sometimes starts a domino effect, where that person is inspired by your actions to do someone else a favor or it puts them into a good mood. Its neat when you catch someone of guard and bring out a smile. Its kinda of funny but giving can sometimes be more fun than taking... |

| I think Sothis takes those views because like she said before, she doesn't get offered drinks very often. Now think about the type of women who get offered drinks ALL THE TIME at bars. If I was to go up to her and said "hey, can I buy you a drink?" HOW THE does that separate me from the dozens of other guys that offer her drinks? I feel that the whole "buying a drink" cliche does more harm for us guys than good. When you meet people, its all about the FIRST IMPRESSIONS you get. By using a cliche to meet a woman, I doubt her first impression of me would be as positive. |

Exactly, that's just why I was saying not to do it too often, I love doing random acts of generosity, like IGottaKnow, that's cool. But not as an opener, or even mid-conversation, unless it's understood that it's just being nice an nothing else.
And the reason why "all the guys in here think that A) girls will think you want to them if you buy them a drink" is because 90% of guys who buy girls drinks as an opener ARE just tying to get into their pants!!! that's why the cliche's so bad!
That's why you should be yourself, create interest in conversation, not your skill in saying words to a bartender and putting money on a counter. A monkey could do that, hell a monkey could pickup chicks like that!!! And the girl's would think we was trying to get with them!!!!
I'm not trying to change anyone's views, just trying to clarify what I meant. :happy2:

| Everytime I try to get hooked up with a girl at a club, her boyfriend pops up, or her friend pulls her away. But when I don't try and just say hi and talk about how good the music is being played, I end up talking to her for the rest of the night, only to either lose her in the crowd or forget to get her number. LOL!!! It's a lose-lose situation for me. |

mmm.. buying drinks for the ladies, sometimes (if i have the money, i'm not that rich! :p)..
getting free drinks, often! :) i get a lot of free drinks from friends of mine who are totally drunk and are giving drinks to everuone. and i get quite often drinks from friends (girls) who just like to buy me drinks! :)
and i even get more free drinks were i work (pub), free drinks all over the place! :D:D: |

| I think most woman these days are just spoiled and annoying, and they explain every action you make in the wrong direction. They are not all like that, but it's a very pity to see it happen. Woman want men much older then themselves, so as guy you can start thinking of a relationship when you're 20, because then you'll have a chance that a girl who's 13 actually gonna like you. They take advantage of men, and it's a bad thing...why does it have to be so complicated? Even when a girl and a boy like eachother there's a whole load of 'rules' that could make the coming relationship end. I'm glad i always got the nice girls, but there aren't so much of them, so I hope there will be one among them wich i can have a relationsship with...:nervous: |

It's true. I've been hitting on 13 yr old girls all my life but it was only when I turned 20 I started getting any action :D
Seriously though, any advice on women is bad coming from me since I'm in a state of constant perpetual singleness; but the secret is....there isn't one. Funnily enough girls are just people, some like older guys, some younger. Some like to be treated like , some like princesses. Just like us blokes :p
Instead of treating every girl you talk to like a potential shag, treat the conversation as a tester. It's not a test you have to pass by imressing her, girls don't get together and make a list of secret rules you have to try and figure out. Instead of trying to impress her you're just checking out whether or not you want to try take it any further. You do this by asking about her (and the golden rule is, there's nothing a person likes talking about more than themselves).
Now I gotta start following my own advice :D It's a bit like mixing...I know the theory in my head, I know exactly how it's done, it just all goes to pot when I try doing it. |

true that. its like trying to pulling off a good joke you heard from a comedian. delivery is everything. if u aint got then dont do it.
I guess we can agree that the buy u drink thing is cliche. I suggest trying the line your shirt would look good crumpled up on my bedroom floor. this line is guaronteeeeeeeed to work. ;-) |
