Yeah but when they did it, it was a pretty original concept. And they both had musical talent. Orbit is an amazing composer, Benny is no where near him. Now everyone has a Guetta, Benassi, or whoever produce them.
A great example of DJ and vocalist; David Morales and Mariah Carey. |

Also, to be fair, Madonna has made a career of picking the best producers she can - when it comes to tapping the underground, she does her homework.
I doubt Chris Brown even knows what 'underground' is. :p |

Very true, she has always had an edge throughout her career.Although, I've never cared much for most of her songs, Ray Of Light reeks originality. |

The point of this thread was the bring to your attention that Top 100 Pop radio stations are now playing songs that compromise of 60% edm and like 40% vocals. Ya the track is cheesy (kinda catchy) but the bigger picture is that pop culture is slowly accepting more and more edm in their tracks. 10 years ago you would never of heard a track like this on the radio. And ten years from now maybe it will be 100% edm with no vocals playing on our local radio stations. Lets hope... |
Oh, really.... |

speak for america. In Montreal there are radio stations that have been playing tripe like this since the beginning of the euro boom in the late 80's. |

Well I think the main thing is that, this is not a "Chris Brown" or "Hip Hop" song playing. Its a total 180' from what the norm would be. But with what you hear from Rihanna, CB (ironic), and other collabos, there is a distinct change going on. Not for EDM (this is more a side-project, not direction forward).
No one has heard Majer Lazer's "Hold Yuh" Remix?!?! |

Pray, what change might that be?
...And don't say "rap joining with EDM" or "EDM becoming more popular". That's been going on since... EDM's been around, really. Just because a few singers who've appeared on NOW compilations hired EDM producers doesn't make it new or different from anything that's been done before. |

| ^^^Right. It's nothing groundbreaking or original. It's just the same 180 in the same direction others already taken. |

Thank you.
At the end of the day EDM is a business. The less profitable it is the more you will see producers / DJ's guys jumping ship and concentrating on other more lucrative projects. Anyone remember Joshua Ryan? He Left the scene back in 2005 to become an audio engineer...
Let the rappers / pop artist have their side projects with EDM. It will only bring more attention and money to our scene. This is the only way it will survive. Oldschool rap scene is a perfect example. Back in the mid 80's / early 90's rap was perceived as underground / ghetto... look where it is today. This transition was facilitated by artist collaborating and changing things up.
Ps....
