What's up everyone?

Hey everyone, remember me?

I'm back, and I'm here to give new house another go (yes, on TA...) after a few years out of the mix(es). We all have more than enough music to last us a lifetime, probably never replaying a set more than a few times if we put our entire collections on shuffle.

Truth be told, I really didn't like the direction house was going in 07-08. I hated the clicky bloopy tracks, and couldn't stand to watch my favorite DJs (Lawler, Calderone, Dubfire, Peter Bailey, etc.) defect one by one to that style. Like you guys, I DLed 15-20 sets a week, but I would hit five in a row that surprised me with the sound, so I gave up, and just resorted to my trusty reliables, as well as my faves of other genres.

Now I'm here, and as I've noticed over the past couple years, more and more new names are in the game. I'm not going to ask so much as a list of everyone hot in the game and the genre they primarily spin, but maybe you can help me with a primer...

Is anyone spinning anything close to the pre-2005 tribal that I love so much? Like Victor's 2003 Stereo and Space sets, Lawler's old , Eric Entrena's bangin' sets...if so, who? Please?

Who are the top party DJs now? I know this is kind of hard, since everyone has a different party favorite. I'm talking about the way Deep Dish and Eric Prydz used to do it, and Cedric Gervais and Alex Gaudino in 07-08...

Are any of these guys still rockin' hard - Eric Prydz, Deep Dish (I only see Dubfire's name around anymore), Danny T, Mark Farina, Saeed Younan?

How about the TO locals? I'm DLing the soundcloud sets posted in the DL thread. Are these guys all still rocking hard? Joe and Fab & Vince and Val were playing around with some of the the bleepy beats when I started to drift away, so I was wondering what they were playing these days.

And I'm not hating on any styles, I just wasn't feeling what the majority was, so I walked away for a bit. But I've got that burning (if this place doesn't help, I'll call my doctor), so hopefully I'm pleased with the result.

Thanks everyone, hope you're all doing well!

Thanks fellas, I'm not really sure what HA does these days. All I know is that I had a lot of fun with the download thread over there, and it was really nice to bring it over here (man, what was that, 2006??) and see everyone jump on it and share their faves. It hit some road blocks over there and seemed to go viral here on TA.

Vivid...sup kids?! How's your mom??

she felt bad about the whole herpes thing, but she figures if you just pretend all the girls you sleep with have herpes too you'll be fine.

lulzzz...

House, these days, I'm happy to say is headed back to better times..

Last time Lawler was at Guv was the first time since '03 that I didn't want to chuck stuff at him...

I knew the music was just a phase..

Welcome back!!!

Now, leave while you've still got some sanity..

Hi Dave!

Welcome back. As much as I love tribal from that period, don't come back into things expecting to hear that, or you'll be disappointed. The click and the clack is still around, but it's starting to fade away while more deeper sounds a la Wolf+Lamb, Hot Natured (both of which are labels), No. 19, etc. are starting to become more popular. You should come out to Footwork on Saturday and check out Wolf+Lamb vs. Soul Clap. It's will be a good time.

The only DJ that you mentioned in your post that still does it like he used to, and still lays it down like no body's business is Mark Farina. That guy is a timeless legend.

Wooooow! Big news.

Also, I think Joe Claussel, Danny Krivit, and Francois K (Body & Soul) are playing at The Docks that night. Talk about a deep house weekend!
