| What do I need to get started? I'm on a bit of a budget, since I am still in college and all. I would really like to go the Pioneer route. Because I feel their gear is top stuff in my opinion. I saw Tiesto recently and I liked his setup a lot. I assume he uses CDJ nowadays. Not sure what else. I guess I want to go with the CDJ also, no laptops. I'm wondering what other gear I'll need to become a club dj. Thanks. |

2*cdj400+djm400+some headphones, the rest should be used on music.
i think the cdj400 support external USB too so you dont have to burn out all the music on CDs but use USB pens instead. if you think its easier. thats atleast why i stopped djeing with CDJ i found burning out CDs a mess. |

Roughly how much would this run me? And you're saying I can use USB pens vs. burned CD's? What do you use to dj now, a laptop? |

i dont know the price of it, try google/product to find out. or some random dj store, you can probably get some rebate on the full package.
i used to dj on vinyl, then went over to cdj, then quite the whole , and now i bought turntables and vinyl again, but im not much of a dj. if i were to dj professionally today, id burn out cds. its a little bit of preparation (burning cds and printing out trackslist etc) but its the most solid way once arriving at the club. you cant really just use USB pens yet as most clubs probably dont have CDJ2000 yet and you dont want to bring your own gear. I believe CDs is the best way for some good time still.
bringing your laptop to a gig? no ing way imo, id never do that. |

Ok I see. So you're saying most clubs already have the equipment there. All you need really is the burned CD's? Is there a particular type of CD's Dj's use as far as quality wise? Like a top end brand or so? |
