I've been abusing the search button and using google with words like (tranceaddict production studio psytrance), but I can't seem to find any psytrance threads. Am I searching the wrong thing or should I just go find a different forum?
I'm resampling low sine waves and adding a pitch envelope and repeating, and I can get it clicky enough, but it's not punchy enough, is there a light distortion on just the attack? Maybe I have a compression problem? The settings I have on my compressor are the settings from the Perfect Kick tutorial from this forum.
Probably a stupid question and it sounds so easy but I can't get it right, my last attempt was an epik phail:
I've been practicing my sounds since because I want to improve before I put out more... I feel so stupid!

you shouldnt really search for psytrance if you want help on how to make kicks, you should search "how to make kickdrums" obviously. :p
the trick with search is to be specific, not vague.

Boost some lower end frequencies in a parametric EQ; The click is nice, but I think if you add some lower end, high up in the bass frequencies you will find what you are looking for :) Btw, skyhunter I love your little signature, the Whats wrong with being musically diverse thing, I clicked on every single one and I have come to love Noisia. Not so much the chiptune but yeah, thanks ^_^

Over at the isratrance forums we only discuss psytrance.
But yeah, what you're asking is practically the dark arts of music making.
IMO, the kick is probably the hardest part to get right.
This tutorial from warbeats shows a nice way to get boom then thump out of your kicks. Helped me alot in the beginning.
But really, its all down to sample selection, key, and ADSR envelopes.
