ahhhhhhh ok i know what you're talking about. i'm in the same boat...actually. doesn't matter what letter i start typing with, it'll match it with anything that i've previously visited. i woudl think if you just clear your history/cookies/etc.... it'll clear all that so you can start over?

4 really kicks 3s ass. im very very very impressed. well aside for this one minor annoying issue. i mean its not gonna cause me to switch back to chrome or downgrade or use something stupid like ie. like i said its only a minor issue, although i would still prefer to get rid of it.

yea theres another setting too that essentially does the same thing.
firefox --> options --> privacy --> location bar section --> select pull down menu to nothing.

but then [lazy]i have to type in the entire web address each time. the way it is now i can atleast save a couple characters although im still typing more than i used to in chrome.[/lazy]

Just bookmark every site that you frequent, so you don't need to type anything in the address bar.

clear everything or re-install it

also, try typing without the www. prefix

Tell them to stop making browsers that are such memory hogs too.

I know this might sound a little drastic but have you considered suicide?

I hate the direction Firefox took the location bar in version 3 and onwards. I use the following add-on so that it behaves more like the location bar back in version 2:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fi...d-location-bar/

a fresh install isnt going to fix the problem. and yea i can type in tranceaddict and hit enter too but thats just a google search. doesnt really relate to my issue. my issue is that firefox is searching my history and bringing up results in a way i dont like or a different way than it used to and in a different behavior as most other browsers.

i found that having 8 tabs open in chrome was much more of a memory hog.
