I was told the world would end at 6:00pm eastern time and its 6:03pm and nothings happened yet.
I will definitely buy this synth but I just want to make sure I'm going to be alive tommorow. Cause if not I can really use that $50 towards a hooker and some acid. |

who thought it was happening today? some new hype trend or some serious calculations behind? the mayan calculations are actually pretty interesting as there are a big meteor coming about that date, not hitting but passing by changing the rotation on the planet or something, causing huge floodwaves. i just cant wait to move up in the mountains for survival. lifes quite meaningless without any resistens. |

Thats one of the deepest things I ever heard come out of your brain before. Even though you spelled resistance wrong lol.
But I believe that 100%. And if you really take a cold hard look at life you will see that concept working in nearly everybodies life.
Its some truely profound .
And it manifests in something I like to call "pretend problems". People can NOT live w/out their own pretend problems. Its how so many humans seem to maintain an identity in an overpopulated world where noone no longer has an identity. We use to live in small groups/tribes where every town had 1 butcher, 1 milkman, 1 doctor, 1 philosopher, etc. And we all knew our roles clearly. Now and days people change roles so often to adapt to a changing enviroment that almost noone has one true identity any longer. We are truely the "lost generation".
Thats why I think you also get to see so many more "pretend problems". It makes people feel alive, it gives life meaning, in a world where people themselves are becoming increasingly disposable.
It seems to me now no matter who you meet, everyone has a problem that in someway displaces the fact that they are human or just normal. Its no longer ok to just be human anymore. Everyone has to have a disorder of one kind or another. The kid who gets yelled at in class for not paying attention. He will never be able to come to terms with the fact that he is just stupid. Instead he can now tell himself "I have ADD" and feel ok about his problem. I have a "disorder" and thats just the way it is. Instead of saying "I'm normal because I have x problem", its now "I have x disorder because I have x problem". And that then motivates the person to become "normal" by eliminating a problem or "disorder" that has never really been a disorder in the first place.
Someone dies and we get depressed and a dr tells us "you have depression" instead of "you are naturally just sad because someone close to you died". Like wtf. And now that somehow motivates the person to wanna change because they're no longer normal. Problems motivate us by making us desire "normal" when someone else has convinced us we're not (or we just convinced ourselves because we were "too normal" lol).
What a shady ing world we live in.
I remember a smart shrink once telling me that the same way everyone has a survival instinct or life instinct, everyone also has a death instinct. Survival gives life meaning just as much as a threat to survival does. So now that we live in a world where we no longer really need to try anymore to survive, or kill just to get a bite of food, we fatten ourselves up, and then obesity actually becomes a threat to our survival and no longer starvation. The world has never been this backwards before it blows my mind some of the that goes through my head.
But thats one of the truest statements I can think of. When we no longer have any problems, life has no meaning, and that just goes to show that the world will always be a ed up place. Because once certain problems go away, they are replaced immediately with supplemental problems... whether those problems are real or fake.
Some crazy crazy if you really think about it. But don't think about it too much or you might have a disorder lol. I don't have any idea what the point of this post was either so don't ask. Was just thinking out loud again like I usually do. |

Nah, there's a 400m-wide asteroid spinning past at the start of November, but even that's going to be 200,000 miles away.
- too far to have any real effect.
In October there's a much bigger comet coming past - about 3-4km across - but that's not going to come any closer than about 20 million miles so it won't have any effect either. You'll probably be able to see it at night though.
So you're safe for now ;) |

December 21,2012 : Myth or Truth?
7 Reasons that support this Myth
What is Mayan Prophecy?
The ancient Maya civilization Predicted the 26,000 calendar year cycle to be specifically consisted of 5 smaller cycles, each having 5,125 years. Each of these 5 cycles were believed having its own World Age or Creation Cycle. As depicted on the familiar, circular MesoAmerican Sun Stone, (often called the Aztec Calendar) each Creation Cycle is said to have been ruled and destroyed by one of 5 elements. Specifically, 4 Jaguar, 4 Wind, 4 Rain, 4 Water.
Our present great cycle spanning(3113 B.C. - 2012 A.D.) is called the Age of the Fifth Sun. This time period is ruled by 4 Earth. This fifth age is the synthesis of the previous four. 4 Earth (called Caban in the Maya language and Ollin in Aztec) has several meanings, including: movement, shift, evolution, earthquake, navigation, synchronicity, clue tracking, turtle. In the Maya language, the word “ol” of ollin means consciousness.

SCIENTIFIC EXPERTS globally are predicting and expecting that 3 years from now, all life on Earth may well come to an end. Some are saying it’ll be we humans that would set it off. Others believe that a natural disasterous phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it’ll be God himself who would press the stop and restart button. The following are some likely arguments as to why the world would end by the year 2012. Go through them and leave your view in comments.
Reason one: Mayan calendar
The first to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things — building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and sacrificing virgins.
Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it’s likely they’ve got the end of the world right as well.
Reason two: Sun storms
Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery. Our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic and it’s supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the earth with lot of radiation energy. It’s been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse and calculations suggest it’ll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012.
Reason three: The atom smasher
Scientists in Europe have been building the world’s largest particle accelerator. Basically, its a 27 km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it’s properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They’re predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.
Reason four: The Bible says it
If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn’t bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act as well. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between good an evil, has been set for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese Book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.
Reason five: Super volcano
Yellowstone National Park in United States is famous for its thermal springs and old faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple — it’s sitting on top of the world’s biggest volcano and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we’re many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.
Reason six: The physicists
This one’s case of bog — simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berkely University have been crunching the numbers. They’ve determined that the earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they’re claiming that their calculations prove that we’re all going to die, very soon. They are also saying that their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 per cent; and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.
Reason seven: Earth’s magnetic field
We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that shields us from most of the sun’s radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call North and South have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so — and right now we’re about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30 kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is under way, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches. |
