The big benifit of blue ray is the audio file, the picture is better but the sound is amazing compared to DVD.

I'm going to suggest the pixar films on blu ray. They look amazing and they are very rewatchable. Other than that, Star Trek is a nice blu ray and very rewatchable too.
I'm not making the same mistake with blu ray that i made with dvd and buying a ton of movies. Only movies that are rewatchable for me. |

I really enjoy watching older stuff. I hadn't even seen some of it in DVD-quality, so the difference is shocking. Patton and Dr. No come to mind.
If you just want demos, though:
Transformers
Quantum of Solace / Casino Royale
Ironman
The Matrix
Planet Earth
The Dark Knight
Cars
Ice Age 2

Definitely buy movies you actually want to watch. It's nice to push it at first, but after a year, having $1000 of demo discs doesn't do you much good. |

The matrix movies (some nice soundtracks on these, and incredibly compelling visual sequences).
Chronicles of Riddick
