You have some nice elements and a groovy bassline. You need some more parts to keep the arrangment interesting. Some tranistional fx, add some perc lines maybe break up the bassline and introduce it fully later or filter it in. Just needs beefin up. Good start though. I know how hard it is to start working on a new genre to get it right.

My main problem with this is that there is no energy shifts whatsoever, the music is playing to be playing, its not saying anything, its not tellign me to be excited or to be anticipating something or to relax. This type of music is all about arrangement and you said arrangement is your weak point so ill give you a break ;p
but thats my main concern with this tune.
Not the best example but:
Notice how its buildup after buildup after buildup and tense as hell and then releases, this is what im talking about, this is what i think your track lacks.
btw take everything i say with a grain of salt, not bitching just saying what i think :p
Thanks, that's helpful :) tend to agree.

Thanks, I need to hunker down and professionally address the arrangement issue. This is a groovy track, 2AM banger for sure.

Been through a lot of changes. Found a stopping point for tonight, though. Starting to get the energy built, new mixdown and chord progression with work on the bass bussing and percussion. It does need some refinement since the additional changes. I do like the groove once it gets going, seems pretty solid.
You had this groove, with the first version of mmkay, that you seem to have dispensed with, that I really liked. Never-minding the vocal sample, it seemed to be resting in an offset interplay with the percussive elements of your rhythm section. Maybe you're progressing to that point, again, but I wanted to make a note of it - that I liked it.
I like the chord progression but it feels like a very simple foundation with which to introduce a more complex algorithmic riddle, such as that being hinted at with that sneaky little squiggly synth popping in, towards the beginning.
Anyway, this isn't really criticism. It's more the ideas that were popping into mind while I'm listening to your work. Definitely like the potential that I'm hearing and looking forward to a more fully realized version. Definitely a solid foundation, though.

Has more of prog house feel now, something like eric pyrdz would play. The bass change theres one @ 1:40 ish, but happens at other places I'm not sure on that. Just the way the bass is with the synth sounds good not too many changes with it. I like the synth, you could build some tension up and open up the synth with a filter to really bring it in for a huge build up. The track has a driving feel with the lead which I think would sound great to build up the driving feeling in the track. Keep it up.

So, I would consider most of what I have posted in the past month (aside from the half tempo/down tempo stuff) a total linear amalgamation of a single track. So, this is the "update" :) Insightful CC welcome :D Enjoy
And BTW guys thanks for the feedback so far. I don't consider it a bummer not finishing something right away, it's a joy learning something new everyday which luckily is what usually happens. Always walk away with something new. Combined with an open mind and feedback it's a winning combo. This one was fun and I hope you like it. Now I sound like R. Jenkins. heh. Master is, like 98% of my WIP; flat as always.
So is this like a new track? Or is it just derived from the other versions. Its nice in parts though, like the vox

A little of both. Probably one of the original project files. & Thanks, any tips on filling out the mix a bit more?

Oh yeah def got some tips, wanted to know if it was a new piece or not.
It could use some fx or something to signal when the kick is about to start at the beginng and also maybe when the breakdown starts/end. Could also do the same when you bring in/out any perc lines. Add a loop or two to beef up the drums sections give it some varition in parts and keep it interesting.
Build up the tension a little before the drop, would sound nice to have it nice and pumping when it comes back in. Nice track man, you should def finish this it has good pontential to get signed, the lead and vox go nicely together.

I guess I have a hard time selecting FX sounds, I might need to spend some time doing some manual FX with my synths instead of relying on the sampled FX so much. That might be why I simply just don't put in there but it's going to end up leaving gaping holes in the mix. Something to work on :)

I definitely agree about you needing some more transition effects to lead into everything, but I like this idea more than what you were going with before :)
