I think this sounds pretty cool, the guy who did this is deffo stuck in the eighties tho lol, his music sounds muffled like everything was recorded on some cheap analog gear or something.

There's a ton of it that's crammed under Indie Dance/Nu Disco and Electronica over on Beatport; not saying that dismissively, but on any given day, you can find a handful of releases that fit the description (and level of quality, I'm sure) of the stuff you're looking for.

Haha, well the 80s thing started from 2002-3 with "electroclash" in EDM (DJ Hell, Miss Kittin and The Hacker, Felix Da Housecat, Adult, I-F etc.) and post-punk revival rock bands like Arcade Fire, Interpol, Bloc Party, Editors and The National (which i immensely enjoyed, end-of-90s was very ugly with white stripes and red hot chilly peppers *vomits, thank god for those "80s post-punk style" bands...) From that point both electronic and rock have started to become more and more "80s-influenced" with analogue sounds/80s style retro-productions dominating house, techno and prog, as well as maintream culture and rock, leading to the very-80s 10s. I can clearly see why it happened. EDM, mainstream pop and rock had become so much sterile, linear and clinical, that the "raw", "direct", "noisy" and "analogue" started to look very re-freshing. Possibly was/is since some current works don't just immitate/revive, but use the 80s production/style in order to create something new. Which is great. Ofcourse there is a lot of garbage, but you also see some quality works as well.
Another very 80s-influenced modern genre is "witchhouse" (for those who haven't heard of it :P). Something like trip-hop and dubstep made with the 80s goth/cold-wave/industrial spirit. Which is a kinda interesting mixture...
Oh and guys this thread is about "NEW" 80s-style works not 80s works. Lets not make this an 80s-music thread. ;)
