doesn't lilith have a sweet pond in her yard? i would really like to have a maintain a really nice fish tank after my kids grow up and eli and i travel around alot... it looks like it takes alot of work to keep the tank clean and the water just right.

keeping the water right is not too hard if the tank is set up right...

Its keeping it clean the biggest challenge, plant and fish waste are so hard to remove from all the hidden corners...

I have a 90Gal with a Bullhead Catfish and 3 Yellow Perch.

I also have a 40Gal Breeder with a Largemouth Bass (5 inches currently) and a Crayfish. In a year or two I'll need to get a larger tank for it, hopefully it's a male so I can get away with 120Gal.

I kept a crayfish once. The bastard uprooted all my plants, ate my best fish, declared half the tank its own, dug a massive crater in the substrate and then shed its exoskeleton in the middle of it. Needless to say, I took the spiny little yob back to the pet shop.

I think there are at least some of you guys that keep fish. Would be interesting to see what you have.

I've got a 110L (25gal) Lake Tanganyika Tank, 100L community set-up (back down south) and a 180L Axolotl tank.

Used to keep marines and lots of other cichlids but can't find the time.

How long have you had this tank running? And what are the specific species that you have in there?

I've always liked fish. When I was younger my dad had a 200 gallon salt water tank. Talk about maintenance... He always gave me the pleasure of siphoning the water when we changed it lol.

My favorite fish we had was a Longhorn Cowfish. Got him as a little, tiny baby. The ****** grew over a foot long it was insane.

My dad became pretty attached to the fish and cowfish was dying, and when they die they release poison. Well, my dad didnt catch it in time and all the fish died. Sucked pretty bad. My dad wanted to give them a proper burial but it was winter. He put them in bags and threw em in the freezer until summer. 10 years later they're still in the freezer hahahahahaha!!! He eventually just threw them away a few years back. My mom use to bitch about the smell lmao good times.

I've looked into the nano tank thing, and I don't really like the idea. They're too small to do anything interesting with, and it doesn't seem fair to keep anything in such a tiny space.

True, small shrimp species and emerald eye rasboras or endlers are pretty much it.

All tanks have been set up >5 years, apart from my Axolotl tank, thats been going for about 3 years.

Lake Tanganyika tank has:
Neolamprologus leleupi
Neolamprologus brichardi
Neolamprologus brevis
Altolamprologous calvus
Synodontis petricola

Community tank has all-sorts of just "bread and butter" fish as all of my sisters stock had to be put into in when she moved house.

Axolotl tank has two leceustic axolotls.

I just have a little pond in my courtyard with goldfish about 7x3ft, nothing really exotic lives in there. Used to have a couple of pretty Koi but the damn Kookaburra got them a few months ago. At the front yard I'm working on doing up and putting a fountain in as well at some point in the next week or so, it'll have goldfish in it too :D

Still, the others are making up for the loss and periodically I have to trawl the pond with a net as they breed like rabbits in summer. Pet store buys them so its not all bad. I'd like a tropical fishtank with something like Discus but they'd need more attention than I could give them when I run off somewhere for a few weeks at a time and goldfish are tough.
