Wow, how old are we, 12? So, you are saying that my opinion on the matter is useless because I never felt the need to be ed up on some that destroys my body? I am happy with who I am, I love the music, I used to go to parties to celebrate life, not to ing self-destruct, after all the years, I still don't make the connection between trance and self-destruction. The retards that used to abuse E at parties were the first ones to drop out after the rave scene started to fade, they could care less about the music. |

lol ing hell! ... i remember seeing darude do a live PA in my hometown of mansfield in england [a small crappy town] he did a 30 minute PA and played sandstorm 3 times :stongue:
for me, i kind of got into trance from 98 really.. if had a strange old journey through music. .. my dad was always into motown and northern soul, then in 1987 when house music started to come around in the UK my dad got into that too .. as it was kind of like motown but with a dance beat (black men singing smoothly over a 4/4 beat).
from then on i enjoyed listening to this new lively music, and enjoyed listening to house and acid music with my dad.. things like stakker - humanoid. i was never interested in football and like that [things a normal boy would be interested in].
by 1990-91-92 i was listening to all sorts of semi-commercial rave stuff, the likes of the prodigy, the scientist [jungles DJ Hype for those that know] johnny L, Altern8.. stuff of that calibre.
as the jungle/breakbeat sound started to develope and the commercial and underground sounds forked off, i stayed underground and started listening to jungle drum n bass, and hardcore.. particularly around the 93-94 time i became familar with the early stages of gabba/hardcore techno, and that was it.. i was sold for about 6 years.
from around 97 whenever i didnt feel like spinning hardcore [as it is hard work!] i diversified a little, and started spinning more dancier stuff, like bigbeat [a la fatboy slim] and french disco [a la bangalter /daft punk]. then around the late 98-early 99 time, trance started kicking off in the uk commercially. i.e it started getting a bit of airtime on radio 1. i enjoyed what i was hearing and so did a bunch of friends, and for the first tiem ever i had musical interests in common with real life friends!!! .. i started going to gatecrasher [when it was good] and i used to go every damn week without fail, regardless of who was on, between 2001 - 2004 every week would have a great lineup .. the only night i didnt go to through choice was an armin 4 hour set, cos hes ing dogwank. i was more interested in my harder trance, scot project, kai tracid, and other german/dutch hard acid trance type DJs.
around 2004 gatecrasher started getting a bit and i stopped going, and also stopped hanging around with the friends i met over the years that loved trance.. and slowly slowly my tastes were reverting back to my roots. from hard trance went into hardstyle,, fropm hardstyle into hard techno/schranz, from that into hardcore, and the man here today is the result. i co-run a hardcore radio station and 3 record labels.. i spin hard techno into industrial hardcore and hardcore techno.
so for me, i feel i have gone full circle, and ended up where i truly belong. :) |

bush was president for a good chunk of the 00's. big punisher died in early 2000 so that was the end of an era for golden age new york hiphop. fifty cent opened the door for hip-POP in 2003. I think the 90's was when the world was thriving but too bad I was born way too late. look at all the greatest rappers that were born in the early 70's

I know this is off-topic, but that's just simply not true. Never done that. By the time I started playing in UK my set was about an hour (if the buyer/promoter had booked me for an hour, that is; they sometimes specifically wanted less for whatever reason), and consisted of my Before The Storm album material and some other unreleased stuff, and some short "crowd hypers". In my whole 12 years of playing live and DJ sets I've played Sandstorm twice (or the second time half or a clip of it) once or twice, in some special occasion that warranted it. And I used to do an intro with slow breakbeats and big pads and such, sneaking in the "der der derrr" lead from Sandstorm a couple of times to "wake people up". |

| I actually got interested in trance via Mike Oldfield. Tubular Bells III had a more of a kick to it than his other music. I heard it in 1998...then shortly later heard ISOS and Tiesto's Magik albums. and trance [] control from www.mp3.com was a fan since. 00-05 was probably my prime for trance. seeing Armin Van Buuren live in 2004 in Chicago was epic. |
