| I'm no fan of Steve's tunes, but I must say his parties look pretty mental. Perhaps I'll check him out next time he's in town... |

| I've been Guving for a long time now. Steve Aoki is pretty much the one Dj who actually cares about throwing a good & fun party. It's nice to see the guy up there having fun, considering most of them (especially the locals), just stand up there trying to look so cool & serious. They look like smug s! I mean c'mon, it's a party! Not a "blue steal" contest. |

yet another unfair judgement.
i dont think its about certain djs trying to look cool and serious. not everyone's personality is going to be about jumping around or dancing. if you met a patron at a club that doesnt climb on things and jump around would you make the assumption that they are a "smug "?
everyone parties differently. i may not dance but im enjoying the night, the music and the company im with. i think many people can agree with me on this. |

+1...I know many people who are more then happy to sit back and enjoy the music and dance in their seat as oppose to getting out on the dance floor. |

| It's different now. Back then we used to go out for the music and to dance. Now the new generation goes for the party :) |

| LoL!!!! I forgot this was TA & every little thing needs to be explained. I personally don't care if you "clubbers" are there standing around not not dancing or looking like you're enjoying yourselves. Everyone standing along the perimeters are doing that. But when you are a Dj, & it is your JOB to entertain & get the crowd moving, I just think it makes it more enjoyable for everyone when the person up front & centre looks like they're having fun. It changes the whole atmosphere! Let's not get too deep about this. All I meant was that it's nice to see people having fun. |

djs != rock band
ever since electronic music started, djs did not jump around like rockstars on stage. id much rather see a "smug " dj play an amazing set than a dj jump around in the dj booth play noise.
but thats your opinion and this is my opinion. to each their own. |

I'd say the set and reading the crowd is more important, but seeing the DJ have a good time always builds a nice vibe too.
In regards to the locals, it is TA and there are local DJs + friends of theirs on here too, so if you make a negative comment whether warranted or not you can expect some resistance. I get what you are trying to say and agree to a point but I think the factor is that when you play FW, TIL, Guv etc 30+ times a year you can count on the novelty of it wearing off a bit. Whereas for internationals it's a fresher setting, the crowd is bigger and much more hyped for them making the energy more natural (thus the attendees are to blame for it as well). To be a local with even half the energy of Aoki, LBL or any of the other "party DJs" you'd have to be on newfangled drugs from the start of the set to finish week in and week out. |

Sounds like the new generation is bringing back the rave scene again. |
