I think Midiman's Oxygen 8 is the best MIDI keyboard, if you are only looking for a MIDI controller. It connects by USB, so you don't need to bother with MIDI cables, or re-plugging in joysticks and the MIDI to the joystick slot. Best of all, it has eight controller knobs, just like hardware. You can assign all eight and play with your envelopes, LFOs, filters and what not to produce a certain sound. Better yet, you can use the knobs for real-time control of panning effects or for the low pass filters. As for having only two octaves, its equivalent for the price it sells for. Additionally, who needs more than two octaves for techno unless you have a solo or something. Thus, Oxygen 8 is great buy fro < $150.

thanks for the input. maybe i can explain more.

what i want is a keyboard wich i can use to control modules or racks, i see many artis get all keyboard synths, and well i think it might be better just to get one keyboard , and the others just get the rack versions not to get full on keyboards if i ever get more, but i want something good that i can use for main controller, something i know it's tested and passed :) like i see blank and jones, has a keyboard (jp8000) and looks like it's the main controller cause most modules and racks are side by side, but some peeps here said it's not that great cause it doesnt have aftertouch etc. (even when i dont know what that means)

anyway hope you understand what i am talking about :)

thanks
hey cheggy
I know you can get 61 key midi-controllers but they're not cheap considering how little they do. I'm pretty sure Yamaha make one and Roland and Korg are bound to make them as well. Have a look through their websites, or on online stores for prices. I'd help you out but i get all over where i am and everything is a rip off.

I got quoted $400 for an oxygen8 (us$200)

Roland A-37 perhaps.. 76 touch-sensitive keys and aftertouch.
I have a Roland PC-300 wich has 49 keys and USB. but I don't like the roland solution with a little stick thing instead of a proper mod-wheel. it's just cheap and useless.. I tried a Midiman keyboard but it didn't work with Windows XP.
