LA's Early 90's Techno Underground Mix

I recorded this mix LIVE on Memorial Day 2011. It was done in one shot, unrehearsed, unplanned, straight out raw, dirty, uncensored. It was not meant to be serious at all, it was more of fun spur of the moment occasion and I didn't want to kill my mood by starting all over. And as a matter of fact, I like the mix with all the ups. lol...

My goal for this mix was to showcase what the LA Underground was like nearly 20 years ago when I first got into the scene. Several of these songs became huge commercial hits, while many remained underground.

I'm sorry the mixing is rough because I haven't mixed many of these records in nearly 20 years!!! As you can tell, some of the songs are straight up from vinyl and you can hear some of them skip. Back then the songs were short and straight to the point. Most songs didn't have long intros or were even DJ friendly. Even though the mixing is not all there, the memories it brought back are priceless. I still remember playing some of these tracks at very dark warehouses parties industrial Santa Ana, all the way to Downtown & South Central LA. Ahhh the memories.

Hope you guys like it, and can't wait to hear some of your favorite memories from back then. Wait! Some of you we're even born yet! hahahahahaha jk

Ha! Thanks. I'm thinking of practicing a 60 min set, get it down right, record it and make CD's. I'll probably edit a lot of songs and add intros to them, just so that songs won't clash with each other.

all these tunes are awesome to me. it was the beginning of it all for me...top 40/rap/indie rock all went out the window for the most part. going to undergrounds at this time was fun but risky cuz you never knew if it would get shut down. god, has it been 20 years?!?!?!?! I dont feel like it has been but I know alot has changed...some good some bad. thanks Woody for bringing back some memories

good job, Robert Miles - Children. Didn't know that track was that old. wow!

11 years old but I remember the high school kids dumping New wave for Techno. Which makes me laugh nowadays when people ask for it like its a new thing.

Nice Woody, I'm coming over for your recording session. Just reading the track list was giving me chills. But you missed Magic Carpet Ride... lol

Ha! Thanks! Don't worry, a classic/deep house one is coming soon. A lot of people have been asking me for one for quite a while now. You know, "been a long time."
