Early 90's Techno/Rave Underground Mix... - What LA sounded like in the early 90's

I recorded this mix LIVE on Memorial Day 2011. It was done in one shot, unrehearsed, unplanned, straight out raw, dirty, uncensored. It was not meant to be serious at all, it was more of fun spur of the moment occasion and I didn't want to kill my mood by starting all over. And as a matter of fact, I like the mix with all the ups. lol...

My goal for this mix was to showcase what the LA Underground was like nearly 20 years ago when I first got into the scene. Several of these songs became huge commercial hits, while many remained underground.

I'm sorry the mixing is rough because I haven't mixed many of these records in nearly 20 years!!! As you can tell, some of the songs are straight up from vinyl and you can hear some of them skip. Back then the songs were short and straight to the point. Most songs didn't have long intros or were even DJ friendly. Even though the mixing is not all there, the memories it brought back are priceless. I still remember playing some of these tracks at very dark warehouses parties industrial Santa Ana, all the way to Downtown & South Central LA. Ahhh the memories.

Hope you guys like it, and can't wait to hear some of your favorite memories from back then. Wait! Some of you we're even born yet! hahahahahaha jk

Woody, you just made my day. THANK YOU!!!!
Scratch that; Month.

One of the really interesting things from this was how much itI used reminded me of my early raving days in London - Used to have most of these tracks on oldschool mix tapes, recorded at the legendary Raves like Helter Skelter and Labarynth in the UK. Those tapes are sadly long gone so you've done me a serious favor.

I literally have not heard some of these tracks for 15+ years:
22.- Sequential - Psychotronic (1992)
23.- Power-Pill - Pac-Man (1992)
25.- The Ultimate Seduction - The Ultimate Seduction (1992)
39.- Xenophobia - Rush In The House (1992)

So many good memories, both of my underground raving days (tracks from the early 90's) and my first real clubbing experiences in proper clubs, with the tracks in the mid 90's.

One particular memory stands out: Being in the camden palance in London at a night called Clockwork Orange and Children was played for the first time in the UK from the first dubplate ....getting goosebumps just thinking about that moment

The bizarre thing that sturck me how much you associate it with LA then - if you'd have played the first two thirds to me, and hadn't told me it was from LA, I would have though you had found one of my old London rave tapes.

Again, thanks Woody. Gonna shake your hand at PVD ;)

Magnetonium

Superb mix, some of my favourite oldskool techno classics here :) Classic! I gotta do a mix of my own in this style sometime
nefardec
flipped through this... pretty awesome. the sound is great, love how punchy it is. will listen in full later. too bad there are so many jingles in it though!
Teezdalien
Nice one. :)

DjWoody
Thanks guys! I got lots of requests for a deep house/classic house mix. I promise I'll do it sometime this summer.

@nefardec Sorry about the jingles/drops. I had to put them on so someone wouldn't claim it as theirs. I hate drops and didn't used to put them on EDM mixes, but sadly enough, people have claimed my work as theirs before. Lesson learned.
