Anyone have a link to that old maschine thread? If not, I'm considering buying the thing. Cryo, I know you have it and are a fan--worth the $600? I'm looking for a good pad controller that's usable live and handy with samples, percussive or otherwise (especially fond of cutting up vocals and such).
Cheers!

For $600 I would get this.
I hear Korg has the best pads out there! :)
For some reason I don't like Maschine.

My friend has one and it's actually pretty dope. He can lay down a beat rather quickly with its interface and the stock samples are very professional from what i heard. Covers a variety of genres with ease (there are the big techno heads that use this such as chris liebing).
The build quality is also very good. sturdy and can definitely stand up to live use. Pads feel awesome and the whole thing altogether just feels as though it won't be breaking on you any time soon.
The program/vst interface it comes with is intuitive and can also let you program beats with your mouse so you have the best of both worlds. A very customizable piece of kit as well.
Pretty much everything you'd want in a drum machine and inspirational to work with.

Maschine is one of the best purchases I've made in studio gear. Very easy to get ideas down. I'm a huge Ableton Live user but, with the newest update with vst support, I'm using Maschine alone lately to work on tracks. Its great fun and everything is right at your fingertips, even vst controls are automatically setup in the controller. Its awesome.

I want a maschine but have to save my pennies. For now I went with a Korg Padkontrol. It works but I don't get NI's massive content that comes with maschine. I want one though very sexy looking piece of kit and again the content that comes with is amazing.

lol I got the padkontrol too sitting somewhere in my room. don't use it much cause it isn't all that inspiring for me and i can just use my midi keyboard to trigger drums but seeing maschine in action really opened my eyes to what a good drum machine interface can do. lots of options, lots of flexibility, lots of inspiration.

It's absolutely worth $600 IMO. If you shop around (eBay, watch for Guitar Center coupons, etc.) you should be able to find a brand new one for around $500. I haven't used it "live" per se, but I can easily spend hours just playing it and making loops in real time. There's nothing else that even comes close to it. Also, now that NI has announced that Kore will be discontinued in the near future, they have stated that they are essentially going to be putting a lot more emphasis on Maschine, which means even more updates and capabilities can be expected for a long time to come. NI has never ceased to astound me with their development of Maschine and it's easily one of the best studio purchases I have made.
BTW, I believe that the thread you are looking for was the one regarding the 1.6 update:

Awesome...thanks for the info and for the link. That's a very strong recommendation coming from you.
I'm going to have a look around now that you've mentioned it to see if I can find a better deal...definitely not against spending that much for it, but whenever you can save a bit of money, I'm up for it! Just gotta sell my virus now...

Virus eh? Is it an older one?
I have a snow but was looking for an indigo model. I was going to sell my snow if I ever came past one but they're almost never on ebay it seems.
Thanks.
