There's a new documentary coming out about graffiti. Looks interesting.
Graffiti Fine Art - Official Extended Preview from Jared Levy on Vimeo.
| quote: | A Documentary by Jared Levy. 65 Graffiti artists from 13 countries descend upon São Paulo, Brazil for the 1st Biennial International "Graffiti Fine Art" Exhibition at the MuBE Museum.
In an art world where semantics matter, graffiti artists from around the world wonder what exactly is 'Graffiti Fine Art'. After all, once graffiti leaves the street... is it even graffiti at all?

| call it what you want...if you are painting other peoples property without their permission then you are nothing but a vandal and you should feel the full brunt of the law. |

I have no problem with someone who has permission to do art on a building or other property. I don't think its alright for someone to decide to deface somebody's property without their permission.
What one person might think is a great piece of art another person thinks is nothing but an eyesore. |

of course it's alright... it's their property, if they want to pay someone to put some art there it's their call to make. Ownership is the key here... if a graffti "artist" wants to rent a billboard and paint it then great... if they want to tag the side of my house then them! |

point is, pay for art because it has a name..a name built on what..ask yourself that before we start tossing about my property this, laws that..
no one would ever know if it weren't for the fact that we snype, bomb, outline, fill in, tag, or go big in a city WITHOUT permission
BANKSY prime example, who the cuts out a wall to preserve his piece so Angelina and Brad can drop 150k @ Sotheby's?
Mr BrainWash, Cope, Mr Cartoon, all these have legacies based on the very point which YOU feel should be hit with the brunt of the law, yet you go to the movies and queue up to see the release of Exit Through The Gift Shop because it's cool
Ok I'll cut the sarcasm if you stop lying to yourselves. |

my point is that the owner of a property has the right to do with it as they please (within limits established by law) whereas persons with no ownership in a property do not have those same rights. |
