Hey everyone, long-time TA and now have some time and funds to pursue the passion of music and mixing. Having been inspired by the multiple DJs I've seen performed live and the joy they bring to those who love music.
Looking to get started with some simple mixing and researching what I will need in order to get started.
A friend has recommended the Numark NS6 as the mixer/controller, this is likely what I will get - thoughts?
I have a DELL laptop to connect to and where all my music will be stored (only MP3s, no cds or vinyl). It is a temporary laptop, until I can upgrade to a Mac Pro.
What else do I need in order to start jamming out?
Amplifier?
Speakers?
Thanks for input and advice... |

Why waste your time with mixing. Get a better job first, Than when you have more $ get some CDJs. The compact controllers are for LOLs. |

I wouldn't be so eager to get started as soon as possible. Think about what you want and where you want to end up, before you go out and buy all kinds of stuff.
Dj-ing is a very expensive hobby, and it pays to think ahead a bit.
Do you want to play out eventually? If so, you're probably better off buying a decent mixer and some cd-payers. If not, just use a good laptop and a decent midi-controller, and you'll have all you need to mix away at home or at a 'garden-party'.
So, the first question is: what kind of dj do you want to be? |
