Howdy folks, DJ501 here. I'm very excited to announce the public release of my newest mix after more than 12 months in production, and if you're as interested in the form of the mash-up as I am, I think you'll go crazy for it.
indieSENT EXPOsure is an all-encompassing fusion of popular indie rock like Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Modest Mouse etc. with beats from hip hop artists like Flying Lotus, J Dilla, Boards of Canada, DJ Shadow, and so forth. Several years ago I debuted the DJ501 name to the digital public with the release of Modest Rat: a concept mash-up album composed entirely of Modest Mouse/Ratatat mixes. The opening track became the second most popular song on Hypemachine.com, and the seven-song album also inspired various videos made by independent Youtubers, one of which stands at over 23,000 views and counting.
From such conceptual thinking comes indieSENT EXPOsure, another mashup album that picks up the Modest Rat formula and expands it into a continuous, harmonized mix that contains 20 tracks and almost an hour's worth of music.
