anyone know any ways to get passed this so i can view sites that are blocked

No, that's what they're for. If there was a way round it, it would compromise the level of security SonicWalls are sold on providing.

i have a Sonicwall NSA-2400 sitting at work.... I'll take a look.

off the top of my head if they're using the basic none paid part of it it just blocks by address and keywords. so using something like hidemyass or similar should work fine against it.

there's an engine in those things thats unlocked by paid yearly/monhtly, i believe that's more intense and acutally inspects packets. similar to websense and those bull things.

only real way is to bypass by tunnel or connecting to a vpn first you can setup with a days worth of work, same with vpn if you really care.

fyi if they catch you bypassing at work you'll probably get ripped by hr / management

If it's the only route out onto the internet, how will creating a VPN work around the problem? The traffic will still come in and out of the SonicWall.

I'd give it up, you're not going to get past it!!

because if you connect through VPN all traffic is encrypted. so the sonicwall only sees it as VPN traffic.

HOWEVER this assumes 2 things:
1. the newer units can acutally see through that bull
2. they allow vpn traffic out

Use an HTTPS proxy and or a randomizer like TOR and the you can go anywhere as they won't be able to see your traffic.

Any network administrator worth their salt that implements a SonicWall will include a list of known proxys in their block list, as well as blocking outbound VPN traffic.

If they don't, they should be fired.

What a douche, without outbound VPN no one gets any work done where I work (31000 employees), its essential.

The best strategy is no filtering whatsoever, that's the policy where I work.

As long as you get your work done, no one gives a what you're doing on the web.

That's where good management and proficient team leads giving enough work and following up is the best deterrence against time wasting on the web.
