Newcomputer config - audiophile 2496

Hi,
I'm thinking of moving to pc sequencing soon because hardware sequencing on mc505 is too weak (only 8 tracks :confused: )
it would look like this :
AMD 2000+
Elite K7S6A
512 Mb DDR-Ram PC2100 - 333Mhz
Maxtor 80gb
audiophile 2496 soundcard
Now i've heard there are some troubles with the via chipset and the audiophile 2496 soundcard, is this problem away with the sis745 chipset ? :conf: :conf: |

I think the VIA problems are long over. I'd check with m-audio to make sure though... maybe they have a support forum?
I just built a new PC with a SiS chipset as well though... so far things are good... my computer is extremely stable. In terms of audio though, I'm not completely sure... I can't install the good, asio drivers for my SBLive!... but I think that that's a fault of XP. |

| most of the VIA problems have pretty much disappeared, but the M-Audio website still has links to some patches in case people are still experiencing them. I haven't heard of any issues with SiS chipsets. |

My 2 cents ....
I'm never buying another VIA board again, just recently I tried uninstalling its VIA AGP driver and it resulted in total corruption of my Windows install.
Never Again! :) |
