My one grandfather who died 2 weeks ago was a large animal veterinarian. He owned his own practice which serviced mainly dairy farms for about 50 years. He worked his own way through both Cornell undergrad and Cornell vet school and was one of the hardest working people I've ever met. He's one of my biggest role models. |
Hah, Im designing the new website for the cornell dairy program quite literally right now. Just designed the new logo. and next week i'm designing the site for their new building to replace stocking hall.
My alma mater! (architecture though, not vet) |

Yeah he went to their ag school undergrad. He was a farm boy his whole life. I didn't know they had a specific dairy program. I remember visiting there when I was looking at colleges, but it was both too close to where my parents lived at the time, and also the campus and student body were way too large for me. The school I chose only has about 4,000 undergrads. |

All mine are dead now.
I wasn't really close with any of them, so I don't know too much about them. Grandfather on my dad's side died when dad was 6 so I never met him (obviously). Dad's mum was always at home, I don't really know what she did :p She got Alzheimer's in her 80s and kinda lost it, which was sad.
Mum's dad died a few years ago. He was in the Navy for WW2, then was a carpenter until he retired. Then he taught lawn bowls to mentally impaired kids at his local bowls club.
Mum's mum died about 10 years ago. She was into gemstones and geology stuff, and also botany. She has a species of Grevillea named after her, but for the life of me I couldn't tell you which one. She was also an abusive, alcoholic bitch, and she ruined pretty much every Christmas and family gathering that I can remember throughout my entire childhood :gsmile: |

| Mine are all dead too. Both grandfathers were in World War 2.... one in the Army stationed in N. Africa and was in France a few weeks after Normandy. He got a purple heart but I don't know exactly what for- he didn't like to talk about the war. The other one was in the Navy- he hated growing up in Philly so much that he lied about his age at 17 to enlist and get the hell out. Both grandmothers were crazy little Portuguese women. One was an attorney and the other one was a typical house wife. It sucked when we moved to Florida because I didn't get to see them that much anymore. Grandparents rule. |

| Oh I forgot all of my grandparents seem to be inadvertently racist towards black people and asian people as they refer to them as "colored" or "oriental" respectively. Probably because they grew up in a society that was like .05% not white. |

| Last time I saw my grandad, he was complaining bitterly that a movie like Brokeback Mountain was even allowed to exist, let alone shown in a cinema. "But they're in' poofters! That's not in' right!" :stongue: |

Sounds like a classic case of projection to me. |
