Big Venues vs Small Venues?

I noticed that a lot of headlining djs are playing at smaller venues here in LA and even in SF. Do you guys think the age of the "Super Club" is dying out?

I personally have preferred going to smaller clubs as of lately. Usually a much better vibe along with better music. Less douchey too :)

What do you guys prefer?
Do you guys think Super/Mega Clubs are getting played out?

were they ever good to begin with? smaller club, underground spot, password to get in. the best.

I like smaller clubs, more intimate settings so you can get close to the DJ and actually feel like you are part of something.

I don't really like big clubs, and even when I'm on stage because I know the DJ I feel like a doucebag...well unless I'm drunk hahaha

But yeah, Mega Clubs are hear to stay but I like smaller venues more. I just hate the small venues when they either over pack it, or full of a douchebag crowd like all the SBE Hollywood parties.

I think the style of music affects the ideal venue. Some music just isn't suited for big rooms.

Favorite Armin night ever....Armin + G&D @ MIGHTY
Favorite Markus Schulz night ever .... one of the times he played @ MIGHTY

Yeah, I like the intimate stuff. It's also why I love Ten15's booth. Because it's a big booth, but how close the crowd gets to the DJ makes it feel more intimate. Unless it's just too packed in there and it doesn't matter after that.

I also love the original booth at Circus because you are pretty muchh right in the middle the crowd with little barrier. There used to be a lot less barrier.

For me it depends on the DJ and music. For deep and progressive house I like smaller venues. Usually the crowd is more into the music than going out just to go out to a big club. It feels like a more intimate house party with a bunch of friends. For trance, I definitely like a big venue. It's hard to get that energetic vibe like when you are at big event like ASOT 500 in a small club. Smaller clubs get way too crowded to be very enjoyable when more popular DJs play there as opposed to a big, super club.

I totally agree about the old Circus DJ booth. It made the DJ seem more accessible to the crowd like a smaller venue even though it had the room of a super club.

. . . plus all of the room of Cirus :)

Would you consider clubs like Circus (main room completely open) and Avalon to be big or small?

Isn't Ruby pretty small still?
I hate that they moved the DJ to where you can't see him unless you're on the balcony. It's not as interactive, they should have just moved the booth back more if they were having problems...

Spend the money they did on those three screens on one bigger one behind the artist so you can, again, see the DJ

Still waiting for Ruby to replace it's projection screen with a kick ass LED wall or curtain. Been begging foreva at this point! Armin was saying how kick ass the place would be if it was LED as well after he played in March. DO IT RUBY. DO IIIIIITTTT.

I think of both Circus and Avalon to be big clubs even though Avalon gets too crowed too early IMO. When I think of small clubs, I think of King King or Ecco where capacity is under 1K?
