I agree that this years is not so great, even with the two day bash they are throwing, but last years wasn't a fail i feel. I really enjoyed Digweed, as many other people did, and above and beyond played well to. I was in the koolhaus for the majority of the night, so didn't really catch axwell and afrojack, except to escape to the skybar and drink, but i felt the overall line up was pretty solid.
It was even a last min decision to go to LoL for me last year, and had to pay $75 at the door which was a real kick in the pants...still no regrets at the end of it all, was so happy to catch Digweed, it really blew my mind.

The mandatory two night ticket is ridiculous, but then again, the place will be packed.

As much as people want them I can see why they aren't offering 1 day tickets right now. Imagine this (dunno ticket capacities but I'll guess just to illustrate:

Max tickets to sell for 1 night = 12k

They sell 8k 2 day tickets then open up 1 day tickets. 4k single day tickets purchased for Saturday then Saturday's tickets are now sold out so they can't sell any Saturday 1 day tickets or 2 day tickets. They only end up selling 2k Sunday tickets and thus there are 2k unsold spots for Sunday. Thus selling 1 day tickets at this point would be a bad/risky decision if they are on track to sell 12k 2 day tickets anyways which is a surefire way to sell max capacity.

Amazing how much criticism the guv gets from people because they don't do what that individual wants, but when you think about the situation from an economic standpoint their decisions 9 times out of 10 make sense. Same goes for all the cheesed out bookings they make that we aren't always fond of. Guv is owned by a rather large business that makes decisions from a large business standpoint, surprise surprise.

The only thing that is amazing, is how tired this argument is. Sure it makes sense from a business standpoint. However, do you think when patrons are forking out sums of money they deem to be unreasonable, they're going to do it happily, knowing that it makes business sense, and that it will fill the pockets of Guv's owners?

Of course customers are going to complain if they find the price unreasonable (especially if they only want to go for one night). How is that amazing?

That's like going to your favourite restaurant, only to discover that the price of all the meals have increased by 50%, because now the only way you can buy your meal is if you get an appetizer and desert you don't even like or want. As a response to this, we should be smiling and thanking the owner, knowing that it makes business sense, in that he will now have more money in his pockets, and you will have less money in yours.

No I absolutely agree with you in the sense that some of that stuff sucks and by no means am I saying lets donate to Guv. Just saying that there is a business rational behind their decisions that in their mind earns them more money (the reason any corporation exists).

Bottom line is that imo anyone who doesn't think it's worth the cost or doesn't like their choices etc etc just shouldn't go. Plenty of other options around this city and ones not too far away to act like we are forced to pay whatever Guv charges for whatever acts they pick.

Something like that actually happened to my favourite Thai resto a few years ago. They upped their prices and dropped the quality with a change in ownership so the first time I went and noticed that was the last. I proceeded to find a few others around the city that are pretty good and that one went out of business likely because many other customers did the same as me. I'm not the biggest fan of the free market capitalist crap but it is what most economies are going for these days and the only voice you have is your $$$.

Something that just occurred to me: Guv could be having this 2 ticket structure to force the younger party generation that will be going on Sunday night to check out the DJs on Saturday night. Maybe Guv is trying to stoke flames, or breathe some life into what I consider to be a stagnating scene in this city.
