Ligaya, Souvenir de Chine and Barber's Adagio For Strings all have a similar emotional sound but I don't think that Ferry intentionally ripped off Fire & Ice and vice versa - the tracks are different enough but feature familiar elements.
On a side note I more than like all three, but Ligaya has a bit of an already-tried-and-tested sound, and Souvenir de Chine goes a bit over the top with the atmosphere in the breakdown :) Lost Emotions 2001 is better than Souvenir de Chine IMO. |

I don't think they're that similar. Sure the strings are, and the melody is similar in the sounds used but to me the melody in souvenir de chine sounds much more sad. Ligaya lives up to its title.
Overall they're pretty much equals in terms of how much I like them. |
