when you guys promote an event or venue, do they pay you a flat fee to promote for the night? how does it work exactly since the flyers you pass out don't specify which promoter it came from.

or do you guys have tiers as a group of promoters and get paid as a whole?

just curious, thanks.

there's different ways to get paid. I'm sure a lot of other people on here get paid in different ways.

I get paid a flat rate per night/week for my services (blow jobs are optional). i choose to get paid a flat rate because it's convenient and easy. Doesn't pay a lot but I have day job. I do it because I have fun promoting.

If you want to make some money in the promo game either throw your own events or be a sub-promoter and get a guest/discount list started.

this doesn't apply to you since you enjoy promoting, but how do they check up on a promoter? what if he/she just tosses all of the fliers and goes home lol.

well... there's a trust system in base. you don't hire/pay n00bs for that simple reason... n00bs are hired as "ticket promoters". they promote for guest list or something.

as for checking up on promoters:

- I'm generally out and about so I can actually see there work.

- Some groups actually have spies. Meaning promoters do not know who is checking up on them and if they get caught... someone is in trouble.

- Some groups require taking pictures (thank you to everyone that has helped me out with that)

- I know some groups require promoters to wear GPS's ( that )

- Some groups even have a reporting system set up of some sort. This can be done with consistent text messaging, online reviews, check in/check out for nights worth of work.

Yeah, it would suck if you had to wear two GPS units. BTW, say hi to your wife for me. :p

When I promoted for Liquified in Atlanta back in college, they gave me these little "discounted admission before 10:30" cards with a spot to put my name, so they could keep track of how many people came into the club because of me. This was the pre-Facebook days (when it was college-only so promoters couldn't really use it).

I did it more because I loved the music and to get in free rather than as something I expected to make a lot of money from. It was worth putting all those fliers on cars at the time, but I had more energy back then. :p
