Either no one went, no one cares, or (most likely) everyone is still partying today while im at work. Figured i'd giver a go
Arrived at 11 to a very long line. Luckily on this night we were hooked up... to be honest there's no way I was going if that didn't happen. Even at the reduced rate, with no kool haus in play (at least for the drinking age crowd) i did not wish to pay any amount to be crammed shoulder to shoulder with the electro crowd.
MO - just caught the end of his set, sounded good, finally met him afterwards. class act all around
Sidney Samson - garbage. 90% of his tunes were top40 tracks with crappy electro drops. Most were underwhelming, and of course the ones that weren't were just headache-inducing. stayed on the patio for most of it but when i went in to take a leak he dropped Bob Marley - Three Little Birds. Most people in the main room looked confused. His mixing also sounded terrible. just straight fades into another ty pop song. the crowd liked it for the most part though.
Fatboy Slim - started out with a little cut from Praise You, and then dropped into some stuff that sounded only a bit better than Samson. he must've seen the z103 tent outside for the kool haus event, lol. we werent feeling it after half an hour so we went to check out skybar, not sure how the rest of his set was but i hope it got better. a lot of people didn't seem to know he was there since they only showed up to see...
Afrojack! - doesn't really need a review, you know what you're getting with him. he closed with "Give Me Everything" (Pitbull and Neyo) and my girl turned to me and said "wow, this is the saddest moment in guv's history." nuff said
M&S followed by Flipside - awesome! great vibe on skybar, and despite the line to get up it wasn't overly packed which was a pleasant surprise. this was the best part of the night for me. the huge booth next to the dancefloor was taken up by 5 dudes who thought they were ballers bc they had 1 bottle of hennessey, but kept striking out with girls until they got their booze goggles on. one particularly gross pair were dry humping for the entire time i was up there, which was 2-3 hours. grimetime.
C+C - sounded pretty good but we were tired by then so we took off around 5:15. wish i couldve hung around but there's always next time.
overall the place was really busy and the crowd was a bit more aggressive than how the trance crowds usually are. met some nice people though, as tends to happen. if i had paid to get in, this review would have been a lot angrier i think. whatever though, guv is guv, go there enough and it's pretty easy to predict how it will be once you know who's booked.

I'm gonna keep this short:
Mark - Terrific. Read the crowd beautifully and really set Sidney Samson up to play a killer set...
Sidney Samson - Only this so called "DJ" proceeded to play 1 and a half hours of the most atrocious sounding garbage I have ever heard any DJ play in my life. It was mind-numbing and downright disgracefull stuff.
Fatboy Slim - What a performer!! Loved his set though he too went down the harsh electro sounding route for a bit which lost me. He played to his crowd and was SO MUCH FUN to watch :) Loved the energy however I think I would like to see him play outdoors at a festival to get a true representation of his sound. Seemed like he was trying to fit in last night which is only admirable as a DJ.
Afrojack - Didn't hear much of him as this was an opportunity to run to the SKYBAR for a break. What I did hear was certainly better than Mr. Samson's effort earlier in the night. Atleast he could beat match occasionally.
Deko-ze - RIPPED the drink to shreds...not crowded and easily the hardest I danced all night.
C&C - This was just a warmup for the boat. THey came out hard which they had to do after Afrojack. I can only imagine what must have been going through their heads when they got on the decks and had to follow up to a Pittbul track. They were good....but the boat was better :)
Crowd - What the bananas!!! ridiculous crowd. I did appreciate their energy however it was supremely rammed in their. Spent most of my time in the back corner of the patio cuz it was brutal trying to survive that crowd.
Good night out with Good friends!!! thats what it really is all about in the end.
...i can't believe how angry Sidney Samson made me....
nifty narcotix
Pretty much spent the whole night on skybar. Was awesome up there. Any other room in the complex was unbearably hot. Flipside was great. Similar thoughts on the 5 guys in the booth, and the dryhumping couple.

You guys are confirming my decision to not go as a Good one.
$75?! No KH?! No Major DJ (sorri)?! Crowd?!! Count me out...
And yea, when I heard Sidney Samson I said "Ok I Like Riverside, but I have never heard him do a Live Set, or even anyone talk about him doing a Live Set"....so the Review Makes perfect sense...
Lets hope for Better for LoL 11(x2)

i think it would be cool if the guv gave some of the lesser known but talented toronto locals a shot playing a cew hrs in the main room during resident nights. Just saying :)

i disagree. There is no doubting the talent that abounds in this city. That mainroom however is earned through a lot of blood, sweat and toil and should not be readily made available unless they truly deserve it.
Please do understand that I am one of the biggest supporters of the Toronto scene and am proud to from a city that boasts the kind of great DJ talent that we have but most still have some ways to go before they can get regular gigs in a room like that. THere must be consistency and the ability to play a variety of music in your sets. Mark ofcourse does that and has learnt to do so over the years. Joe and Fab also do it very well and also deserve their time up there. Let the locals breed their skills in rooms like the Gallery, Acid Lounge, Skybar and Drink and eventually those mainroom slots will open up to them.
Just my opinion.

no major dj?????? Fatboy Slim is a major DJ my friend...he is about as big as it gets. The koolHaus would have been much better suited for him.
THey shoulda left C&C off the bill cuz they didn't fit and just had Mark, Sidney Samson and Afrojack play the main room.
In Guv's eyes, this party was a success....it was busy as hell and people looked like they spent top dollar at the bar so one or two negative comments (which are expected at every party) don't affect the actual outcome of the event.

Here are some videos of the night I took
Absolutely loved this track Fatboy Slim played. Can anyone ID it pleast?
Here's a vid made up of smaller clips of Fatboy Slim. From start to finish, to get an idead what his set was like
Not a big fan of Afrojack's sound or set for that matter, but he had the crowd going retarded from the very beginning of his set as you'll see
For me though, Chus & Ceballos were by far my fav. of the night. Dark, dirty, tribal goodness. That Iberian sound I've come to love so much <3

I listened to music for about 2 hrs and I heard cee lo green ( you mix) 3 times in the main room..had enough..lol

Wow, it looked crazy packed. I can't believe that electro house, dutch house sound or whatever has picked up so much. The stuff sidney samson and afrojack is playing in the vids sounds a bit annoying with bleepy bloopy noises. Is this what the scene is coming down to? I will admit that the Give me Everything track is guilty pleasure but that's it!
