Just curious - what do you guys think? Personally I like the new layout - especially with the longer previews, key command options, and sorting functions. I'll admit though I feel like it's slightly harder to navigate - but maybe that's just because I'm not used to it yet.. :p

I think it's cool that they include key & bpm, though I'm not a dj so my interest in those things is pedestrian. The navigation is a bit different. I think I'll get used to it, but for now it's a bit annoying. They didn't make too many chabges outside of template-oriented ones.
Given the ease of accessing and utilizing information nowadays, I'd like to see more applause-worthy advancements to beatport. I'd love to see recommendations that go beyond "users also bought..." And beatpot, which I can't begin to wrap my head around. I wish they coul recommend stuff based on, for instance, tracklists that the track could be found in. Lately whenever I listen to a set from somebody, say sasha, from a few years ago, I'll often pick out one or two tracks that really stand out and then hopefully find em on beatport. To find similar stuff I end up trawling through the catalouges of the labels the tracks were released on, releases by those artists in the same time period, and even setlists from the dj I find over the same month or so. It's so time-consuming!
All in all, I like it. |

I enjoy the new site. It's more of the smaller things i find nice..like the ability to use the browser's navigation (back, forward, reload, etc). using a multi-button mouse or gestures on the mac, you can fly through pages quick. The old version would reload beatport when refreshing and forced to use the back and forward buttons on the interface. I don't see a problem getting used to it at all.

Anything is better than the flash site, but I've been very happy with Beatler for Mac and don't plan on using the actual website any more.

Longer previews...uhm...hell yes!

The previews are the same length no? 2 minutes. It's been that way since they increased the bitrates too a couple years ago. It's ok for most songs but there are plenty of exceptions where the preview cuts off right before the part I want to hear. They'll have 2 minutes of build up and end the preview right before the main hook, so annoying.
