Out of curiosity, was the winner selected through a voting system or was it a review panel?

I'm actually a little surprised that one didn't win.

ROFL! What a piece of that winning remix is. LOL. Is the "label" boss deaf? This bustrexx remix is like 1 billion times better. How this is is even possible? The difference is so big. Hivemynd remix sounds really really amateurish.

"With solid production" :haha:

these competitions! This is jus same as beatport, findremix etc remix competitions. All the ones always wins, really. There is no point to take part of them. ps. I didn't enter this remix competition.

It's flavour of the month. Of course it will win.

I think the fact that OP isn't posting anything in reply, is pretty telling.

"Uh, yeah, guys. We know it's a bull contest and a bull prize but the original work sounds like it's a poor rework of the hook from Robert Miles' "Children" and who the want's to listen to that 1,597 times? Yeah, so, um it. What are you going to do? Call me a sellout? I've heard worse."

I don't want to begrudge your success with the song and I'd love to hear your version, but I loathe these competitions because they seem to be more of a marketing contest than an actual measure of someone's talent. It's an effortless way for a label to position itself, publicly, that provides very little reward for those who do the bulk of the leg-work. Remixing other people's work is an excellent way to learn the craft and I can't fault the label for providing remix packs, but it starts getting perverse when it's put in the context of a competition for which ability is nearly irrelevant.

Sure, I understand where you are coming from, the label IS a machine to make money though so it's to be expected. I never went in with the expectation to win though, if I did want to win I'd do a dubstep or house remix, whatever the kids want. I went with an ambient remix because I knew I wasn't going to win (a popularity contest). I only have about 30 some fans, other runner ups had thousands, on top I went with an underground style of music.

It's messed up, sure, but even then there isn't much money to be made from this competition, and the reward isn't really that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.

Disclaimer----------> IMO
