Who's going? I'll be there early for setup. If you can spare the time and would like to volunteer to a great charity event, send me a PM by tomorrow morning :) You'd be thanked by getting a t-shirt of the event (the design is super cool this year :)) and free admission to the afterparty at Bar 13.

I was volunteering at the t-shirt booth most of the day with magocbluestar80, so I saw a lot of the TAs who came up to the booth and when I wandered around :)
Was so messed up of the cop to shut it down because of some people drinking. They should've given out citations for open containers but because the NYPD is a bunch of lazy s, they just wanted everything gone instead of dealing with the paperwork. Plus police will always react negatively to something they don't know about ie, the electronic music crowd. To them we are just a bunch of junkies, nevermind the fact that a lot of friends were there with their kids and pets, it was an event for the whole family. I hope the organisers got enough donations and got to contribute a nice amount to the NYC kids.
Just for future reference, just prep everything you're taking to central park and put them in coolers, bags and thermos and not to bring any liquor & beer containers. |

i agree with everything ur saying .. i think there was a lot more people this year then before . Frolic just keeps on growing. maybe in the near future there is a better solution to the drinking in the park. i know next year i want to volunteer if there is another one . i enjoyed it ;) . |

I had a lot of fun volunteering :) I told Mike to count me in for next year for sure.
I'm sure they'll think about it next year when time comes. Sending a group of volunteers at the entrances to check for containers people are bringing in would be a good idea.
The old timers who have been going to Festivus/Frolic for years now know what the deal is with the open containers and prepare accordingly, but when you have a bunch of degenerates arriving with black bags from the bodega dropping cans of beer all over, chances are the cops will be on it like flies on . Some common sense never hurts, and in this case it could've saved the event.
Oh well, in any case, it got shut down just one hour before it was over. Still, it would've been sweet to hear Stacey Pullen burn a hole in Central Park. The man was a beast at Bar 13, I just couldn't stop dancing!
And Connie = NY version of Cassy. If you didn't know, now you do ;) |
