You know that I have a lot of time for Armin and always have done. My biggest complaints about his sets over the years is that they are far too vocal-driven and there's not enough of the power and energy in his sets that when he gets into his stride, there is nobody in the world to match him. But the problem is that we rarely see it. That Roseland Ballroom New York set he did in May was an absolute eyesore.
The way the trance scene has gone is that the kids love everything vocal driven and Armin, Gareth, A&B etc. lap it up. Markus hates it and in a solo set of 6-7 hours where he plays 80 tracks, you'd be lucky to find 10 with vocals. He wanted to reinvent the sound of the clubs this year with the Dakota album and with these longer sets, and judging by the reviews in the regional sections of this forum, he seems to be doing a pretty good job of it.
Still don't think the Coldharbour sound is abandoned either. Gypsy Room, In a Green Valley and Tears from TBTII alone show that there are still beautiful melodies being made. |
he dont like vocal stuff, but still these tracks are way predictible and boring just bang bang bang - nintendo - supersaw drop and bang bang bang again and yup I love these mentioned tracks from TBT II. |

It's just the way the scene has gone and it makes people move. I know we're sitting here listening at home and can't appreciate it but if you were placed in that live environment then the reactions would be different, especially in an outdoor event like this. |

| Thank you so much for posting this. Markus has really reinvented himself in 2011 with such a higher pace, passion, and pure power in his sets he is really outclassing his peers to be honest. For some of you to insult him is really a disgrace, because he isn't playing the cheesy vocal crap trance that Armin,Dash Berlin, and A&B are flooding the scene with. |
