Here is a reconstruction of my set, between 10:20 - 11:40 at 'Entropy III', on 08/07/2011, at The Wagon & Horses Courtyard, Digbeth, Birmingham.

I was playing in between a warm-up trance guy and a banging trance guy (who was on before someone who played psy trance). I decided to keep things nice and melodic, but try and play a bit of everything from the genres I'm enjoying at the moment.

Thanks very much to System J who came along and gave me his 'Zeitgeist' CD, which I used to play the awesome 'Innerself' - 'Alive'.

Tracklist

1. Solano - Fire Signs
2. 00.db - Angel
3. Steve Birch - Departure Lounge
4. Afterbyte - Sun Republic
5. Artifact303 - For A Better World
6. Aladiah – Cosmic Area
7. Freq – Stone Shaker (Protoculture remix)
8. 00.db – Epicate
9. Innerself – Alive (Phoney Philosophy Mix)
10. Hybrid – Symphony
11. John 00 Fleming – Jawa (Part 2)
12. Magnus – Edge Traversal
13. Kyau vs. Albert – Falling Anywhere

Hope you enjoy it, and please support my night

Caveat: I’m in between houses at the moment so had to record this around my dad’s place - which meant doing it without any speakers. This accounts for the duff transition into ‘Symphony’ ;-p

arg i'll be getting this later.
You should have added Sunday Club 'Etarna's Flight' from that Zeitgeist CD :eyes:

Cheers - let me know what you think :-)

Yea there are a load of good tracks on that CD that I could have played. Do love 'alive' though :)

Interesting set.
I gave it a quick listen, especially because I was curious how you used the track by Artifact303. The simple answer was: Cool idea, because it fits melody/build-up wise, but it was way too much pitched down. Original clocks at about 144 you played it at 137, that's roughly -5%. To me it sounds like Trance with pulled handbreak.

The second thing is, that I kinda grew allergic to breakdowns. :toothless So the sequel of tracks from 7 to 10 didn't really suit me, especially #10 "Symphony" with its 2.5 min break.
But in general it's pretty cool to see, that there is still a DJ out there who makes creative/unusual sets in the trance scene.

Thanks very much for listening and commenting :)

The Artifact 303 tune is actually running at about 135 there. I agree that's very slow compared with how it should be, but I think it probably sounded ok on the big sound system - I could be wrong!

I think the flow could have been better in the set on listening back, but of course the rules I would apply to myself when making a bedroom mix are different to when playing live. The epic bit in the middle was really a case of (trying to) read the crowd, since a lot of the people there were mainly trance heads.

Criticisms accepted and appreciated :)

Naw, don't worry. People who don't listen to Goa probably won't notice this at all, especially not, when they don't DJ themself. :tongue2

It's just that I personally don't pitch tracks down if anyhow possible.;)

I really like pitching down psy and goa tracks. If you take something that was made at say 140-144 and play it at -5% to -7% it can really bring out some hidden funk (as long as you dont have any die hard goa fans in the crowd such as yourself :p ;)).

Lovely set again, you're very good at mixing various different styles of trance into a short space of time and keeping a good sense of flow. I bought Artifact303's album on CD and had put the track you played aside as it didn't really grab me, but hearing it played slower in this set actually makes it sound a fair bit nicer. Never heard that Afterbite track before, will be buying it at some point. Nice end on KvsA too, still a big fan of their older work.

Shame I couldn't be there on the night but I would certainly have enjoyed this.
