How do you use a high pass filter...

to do this effect? At :55. I'm running FL.

If you are using fruity Parametric EQ2, apply a high pass, and then move the band thats cutting the frequencies out to the right to cut more of the higher frequencies, then slide it back over the left to open up the frequencies. play with it! if your not sure how to apply a high passs just google it. lots of tuts out there for fl.

I often do that EQ trick too, but what I do is create a slight spike, then drag it all the way to the left where the EQ is already rolled off. This makes the spike change shape and all but go away. Then you can simply automate that spike to move to the right and the higher frequencies will be boosted and will sweep along the range. Its a nice way to lead up to a section as its quite noticable, but easily negated again by sweeping back down into the lows.
