DJ Booth at the Docks?

I was at the Docks last Saturday night (don't ask) and I noticed that the "DJ" didn't really seem to be doing much at all. They also had what appeared to be 2 computer monitors up there, which leads me to think that they use MP3 exclusively. Does anyone know what it looks like up there? I can't believe that such a large place wouldn't use vinyls or even CD's...

I seen it once last year. But they were using CDs. I have niot been there this year. they used to not seal up the area around the DJ booth but I guess they do now. BTW, was it Danny D playing up there?

That name sounds familiar.. it was some Z103.5 related event.

The booth isn't sealed per se, but it's raised above the dancefloor maybe 10-15 feet.

hmm last time I went behind that raised platform a year ago it did not have any montors for lights. I think that is done in a seperate area.

Since I used to be a Mgr there I can answer this one - the booth has two sections - at the top of the stairs there is the lighting console with multiple monitors for lighting/camera/smoke and crane functions. One step up from there is the DJ booth - there are CD players which the top 40 and R&B guys tend to use and turntables in the middle. There is one monitor in the booth that controls the visuals. There is also a control for the XM Sattelite channels they use during the day and evening when there is no DJ. I'm not aware of an ability to play MP3s up there.

ah.. must have been CD's. It was top 40 / hip hop / cheese dance, so no actual mixing required.

hmm still I would not be suprised if they start mp3 mixing one day.
