| Thanks for the reply and sorry im in the wrong forum. Im using headPhones for monitors but thought i should get some speakers as well. Great advice but im not sure how to adjust the Decibel level o fl studio . Is there a good tutorial that you might know of i could be directed to ? And also , i know this has been done to death but for the style of trance i write do you think there's a better DAW out there for me?and again i really appreciate all your help . I know forums have better things to discuss Than helping newbies. |

FL is a really nice DAW, nothing wrong with it. I tried cubase before but it was too hard... haha. If it's easier for you go with it!
I use headphones too, and people often compliment my mixing. I am not going to buy monitors 'till I think I need them, so it's really personal choice. If you feel like buying monitors go for it!
The sub is a little dominating, as said before. Try rolling back the low end a little bit on clashing elements.
The high end and low end will blend together with time as your sound choice gets better, and you develop a good ear for EQ. However, a good quick tip to do so is to add some midrange and low end elements that do call and response with the high end.
It is a little quiet but that's not a bad thing. |

| Thanks you know its funny the bass and kick werent so overpowering with the headphones on. I think i really need to learn more about the eq, limiter and compression more. I guess reverb can be a prob as well when overdone. Whats your thoughts on the soundgoodizer? Never on the master? Funny ive read so many conflicting things on what to do and what not to do. But its nice to have some pros help. Thanx again. |

I wouldn't put a soundgoodizer on the master, all it is is an EQ, Limiter, and Multiband compressor rolled into one. If you are going to do anything with the master, do what this guy says here.
Your headphones probably don't have good bass response, causing a little bit of a problem in that range. If you have other headphones to use, try those and see what the bass is like. If that still won't do it, the (relatively cheap) headphones I use are the sennheiser hd 205's. They aren't great, but they are incredibly even for their price, plus your ears get used to them.
Your use of reverb wasn't extreme, IMO. Good work! |

you should check out laidback luke's forum. there is literally pages and pages of amazing advice there, most of it from luke himself and you don't have to worry about whether it's "correct" or not because obviously he is a pro |

| What about soundgoodizer on individual tracks ? I using nexus and its the bomb for sure . Do you find fruity para eq 2 uses too much cpu or is it just me? |

Parametric EQ 2 is my religion, I don't think it uses too much CPU. Soundgoodizer uses a lot, but if a sound needs it then go for it. You can render the pattern out as a loop to cut CPU even further. |

You can't post the song here, you just link it in a post in the promotion part of the forum.
Are you talking about levels? In my songs, I make the drums the loudest, in this order: Kick, Clap, Off Beat Hat, Closed Hat, Ride
Then I make the lead a little less loud then the drums, The bass is less then the lead, and the pads and effects about the same. |
