When should you ask your friends if they would like to be bridesmaids?
Im only just recently engaged and I have 3 definites but also one maybe, and I dont want to ask the 3 and make the 4th feel like an add on... I am not planning to get married for another 18 months or so (havent set a date yet but it will likely be in 2013).
I just feel like 18 months is a long time and I dont want to ask right now and regret later!
On the other hand I dont want to leave it too late and have my friends feel like im not going to ask! |

It's your wedding you do whatever you want, and if some friends aren't happy because you didn't ask earlier, we'll, let them go suck a stick.
The wedding ain't happening tomorrow, no need to rush anything. Plan the rest, And later you can think about the chicks that'll get picked up at your wedding. |

| You should give them at least a year notice. |

IMO, until you set a date you aren't really "getting married." That said; if you think there is a real possibility that you will not be friends with any of these people by the time your wedding rolls around then perhaps you should reconsider your selection.
Congratulations, BTW. |

have all those considered compete in some kind of obstacle course a la MXC. top 4 finishers get bridesmaid, with the winner as maid of honor.
should they choose to actually compete will provide you with enough evidence that they are right for the job. and the winner fit enough for the strenuous position of maid of honor (both in fitness and muster). |

| no matter how long you wait to ask them at least one will not be your friend by the time of the ceremony. The longer from the date the wedding is the more friends who are not bridesmaids will have to become resentful for not being considered a close enough friend to be a bridesmaid. And, you don't want to give the groom to be too much time to cheat on you with all of the bridesmaids so keep it close to the wedding imo. |
